<p> Indiana State Council of the Emergency Nurses Association Strategic Plan for 2014</p><p>In line with the Strategic Framework of the National office of the ENA, Indiana ENA has adopted the following strategic plan</p><p>1. Practice Priorities</p><p>Psychiatric Care in the Emergency Setting</p><p>Lobby state representatives to increase funding for the care of psychiatric patients. </p><p>Sexual nurse number increase Increase SANE nurse utilization in the rural hospital settings to assure consistent practice for all patients in Indiana- sponsor a statewide SANE course. </p><p>Crowding /Boarding Continue to seek collaboration with members and ED physicians to seek better throughput strategies </p><p>Organizational and Operational Priorities Incorporate educational topics into state meetings that focus on safe practice and safe care related to application of national patient safety goals in the ED. </p><p>2. Education Goals Hold one TNCC/ENPC instructor course in 2014 Encourage members to monitor national and state ENA websites for updates on educational items and general content Strengthen awareness around bullying and the effects of such practicing in our community schools and among teens. Provide a CE offering at a state meeting in 2014 Plan a State sponsored SANE course for 2014/2015</p><p>3. Membership/Leadership Goals Utilize electronic media to communicate with members regarding upcoming events Send welcome letters to all new members by this committee Increase membership by 50 new members this year Sponsor awards at a state level Assist with nominations for National ENA awards Maintain and enhance state executive board liaisons for all chapters and committees in Indiana Strengthen line of communication with ED managers/directors. Rebuild and launch new website for indianaena.org to better serve membership needs for education and communication.</p><p>4. Research/Practice Goals Review current practice priorities and encourage research in these areas Recognize any member who has published, accepted to present at conferences at each state meeting. Review current research projects that the National ENA is involved in and assist members in bridging the gap between bedside nurses and nursing research Encourage and support membership presentations at Annual Conference 5. Advocacy and collaboration. Monitor ENA and ANA websites for topics and issues related to health care reform and present as an agenda item at state meetings Provide Emergency Nursing input to the Statewide Trauma Task Force and disseminate info back to members Encourage letters to local and state congressional representatives in regards to ED and healthcare specific legislature. Support and encourage member engagement in EMS for Children. Provide references for Forensic nurses via the state council website.</p><p>Information compiled from Board of Directors meeting January 4, 2014.
