<p> Roseville Joint Union High School District</p><p>Jess Borjon, Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction</p><p>August 10, 2016 PSAT FOR SOPHOMORES</p><p>In the 2016-2017 school year, all sophomores will have the opportunity to take the PSAT free of charge. This has been made possible as a result of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). Roseville Joint Union High School District will proctor the on-site administration of the 2016-2017 PSAT at all schools to sophomores on October 19, 2016.</p><p>Freshmen and juniors will also be able to take the PSAT on the same date but must register and pay for the PSAT separately. Only Juniors can take and use the PSAT score to qualify for consideration of the PSAT/NMSQT National Merit Scholarship recognition. </p><p>This test parallels the SAT, which is graded on a scale of 200 to 800. However, the PSAT does not include higher-level mathematics (e.g., concepts from Algebra II) or an essay in its writing section. The test is mostly multiple-choice, but there are 10 open-response math questions that require testers to enter their responses on a grid. Students are allowed to use calculators on the math sections.</p><p>Students register for the exam through high schools which are members of the College Board. The test is composed of three sections: Math, Critical Reading, and Writing Skills, and takes two hours and ten minutes to complete.</p><p>All sophomores will automatically register for the 2016 testing on October 19, 2016 unless they choose to “opt out” by completing and signing the form below.
