The bank started operating under the name Swedish-American National Bank and Trust. In 1945 the bank’s name changed to American National Bank and Trust Company when it started serving a broader market. In 1982 the bank’s directors formed a multi-bank holding company and changed the name to Americorp Financial Inc and had two subsidiaries; American Bank and Colonial Bank of Rockford. Finally in 1985, Americorp acquired Illinois National Bank and Trust Company of Rockford and merged with American National Bank. The resulting bank was AMCORE Bank. AMCORE Bank serves the southern portion of Wisconsin and the northern portion of Illinois. Highlight Summary Chart: </p><p>AMCORE BANK  AMCORE established an Ambassador Club for customers 55 or greater, but all activities are open to the public.  AMCORE takes older adults on day trips as well as extended trips. This year they are going to Alaska in August. This year there will be 12 extended trips and 9- day trips.  AMCORE participates in Dogs in Hospice and Senior Fire Safety  AMCORE works in coalition with the Aging and Disability Resource Center as well as The Commission on Aging in Green County. AMCORE also works closely with many retirement homes.  AMCORE has programs to provide information on health issues, consumer protection, and also programs to provide entertainment such as playing BINGO.  Many employees volunteer to get involved with the hundreds of older adults through AMCORE Bank.  Not only does AMCORE Bank send out a quarterly newsletter to the Ambassador Club members, but also sends out personal birthday cards. Story: AMCORE Bank has taken many trips, both day and extended. Each trip allows those who may not otherwise get to travel, to see various places around the US and Canada. Older adults who fear that because they are in a wheelchair, have breathing difficulties, or have any other medical need will not be able to travel, get a change to with AMCORE Bank’s help. AMCORE provides volunteers to assist the traveler’s with their needs. AMCORE Bank also eliminates the need for a travel agent. AMCORE employees plan the trip along with activities to participate in while at the destination. The bank makes an effort to keep the costs of the trip extremely low.
