On Saturday there should be less pressure on places.

Coffee & tea, Saturday 7 October We will provide coffee, tea and biscuits at the breaks for a small charge.

Lunch, Saturday 7 October There are no catering facilities available to us on the site, so we suggest that you bring your own lunch if you want to avoid a time- consuming trip into Cambridge or Coton to eat out. If required, we could buy pre- ordered sandwiches and bring them in on Saturday morning. BAS Herbarium Dr Helen Peat will be happy to show people round the BAS herbarium on Friday or Saturday, particularly if she knows what people would like to see. Let us know if you are interested in this. For details of the Herbarium, see https://www.bas.ac.uk/data/our-data/collections/herbarium/ and http://herbaria.plants.ox.ac.uk/bol/bas

Evening meal, Saturday 7 October We will book a table in a local restaurant for those who would like to eat together on Saturday evening. Let us know if you would like to join the party.

Overnight accommodation Participants will need to book their own accommodation. There is a range of options but the options are not particularly cheap, unfortunately – we have therefore tried to ensure that other expenses are reduced to a minimum and there will be no conference fee. David Long tells us that he has used Airbnb to book accommodation in Cambridge and he has been pleased with the results.

Field excursion, Sunday 8 October Conditions can still be rather dry for bryology in East Anglia in early October. We are therefore suggesting Chippenham Fen NNR, 22 km ENE of Cambridge, which has a complex of fenland and woodland habitats (as well as a rich vascular plant flora including the newly described hybrid between Apium (now Helosciadium) nodiflorum and Berula erecta at its type locality. Waterproof footwear is recommended.

REGISTRATION

To register, please e-mail the following details to Chris at [email protected] We will send further details of the programme nearer the time.

Name E-mail

Mobile ‘phone number (if you have one)

Please tick the options of interest to you (details to follow later):

Purchase of sandwiches for lunch on Saturday □

Look round BAS herbarium on Friday □ Saturday □

Evening meal, Saturday □ (indicate number if you would also like to bring partner/friends who will not be registering for the meeting themselves)

Chris Preston ([email protected]) & Jonathan Shanklin ([email protected])
