<p>The Education Committee The Education Committee is responsible for setting criteria for the residency programme and for monitoring resident’s progress through evaluation of regular reports. These programs allow a graduate veterinarian (namely "Resident") to acquire an in-depth knowledge of poultry medicine and related disciplined, under the supervision of one (or more) Diplomate of the ECPVS ("Diplomate") or equivalent, as defined by the ECPVS Credentials Committee. The residency programme will aim at three major objectives:  To promote aptitude and proficiency in all aspects of the practice in poultry medicine, at the flock level.  To instruct the Resident in the science and practice of poultry veterinary medicine, including related disciplines (i.e. microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, nutrition, pharmacology, etc…).  To provide the Resident with the opportunity to pursue career goals in teaching, research, clinical service, and/or specialist practice. An approved ECPVS Residency Programme can be offered by Institutions (such as Universities and Research Centres) and private companies or practices, provided it is designed according the guidelines of the ECPVS Training Brochure. </p><p>As of 1st of January, 2014, two regular residency programmes are approved: - National Veterinary School of Toulouse, France (Programme Director: Prof. Dr. Jean- Luc GUERIN). Contact: [email protected] </p><p>Alternative residency programmes On the other hand, alternative residency programmes can be designed, in a more individual format. Professionals from Universities and poultry veterinarians are relevant candidates for alternative residency programmes. In order to achieve approval, a submitted alternative training programme must fulfil the requirements included in the ECPVS training brochure. [insert a link to the pdf file]</p><p>Opening a residency program The template of ECPVS residency programme (see link below) summarises the requirements on duration, contents, documentation and verification and, lastly, facilities, services and equipment required for an alternative Residency Programme. Alternatively, a candidate may be directly admitted in the residency program, on the basis of his/her education and practical experience in poultry and after approval by the Credential Committee of ECPVS.
