<p>ART 1053 History of Graphic Design</p><p>History of Graphic Design – Course Philosophy</p><p>Philosophy: This course is intended for those studying Graphic Design for the first time and is a comprehensive introduction to the development of how graphic art evolved. The primary emphasis is on studio work leading to a portfolio of finished pieces by the end of the semester.</p><p>Expectations are that students who pass this course will demonstrate understanding of the following:</p><p> A historical perspective of the evolution of graphic design.  Understand graphic design's contribution to culture.  Consider the influence of new technology upon graphic design expression.  Refine critical and analytic writing skills about graphic design.
