N should not be added until Bermuda emerges. Addition of N fertilizer, will promote weed growth. -Field should be disked prior to sprigging. - A preemergent herbicide is strongly recommended to deter annual weeds during establishment - Sprigs should be checked to make sure they are viable.

Materials Required

Material Type (Analysis) Amount Lime, P, & K: Before planting, According to TEST Fertilizer: Nitrogen 50-60#/acre split into 2-3 applications during the growing season, after plants emerge

Area Sprigs Rate Germ (see map) Coastal Bermuda 60-80 bu per acre NA NRCS, SC Ver. 1/2015 Stand Maintenance:

**FENCE ANIMALS OUT FOR the first GROWING SEASON**

1) A preemergent herbicide should be applied. Consult with Clemson Extension for suggestions and rates.

2) Field MUST BE mowed or grazed once it reaches ~6-8” to prevent thatch buildup and stand loss. Continue as needed during the growing season to prevent shading from weeds.

3) Consult Clemson Extension for herbicide suggestions if broadleaf weeds are a problem, grassy weeds can only be controlled by premergent herbicides just prior to planting or mowing/grazing during the growing season. If properly fertilized Bermuda will out compete most annual weeds.

4) Addition of 50-60 pounds/acre of Nitrogen during the growing season will aid in more rapid establishment. DO NOT FERTILIZE within 30 days of a freeze or frost.

** Stand failure due to not following these guidelines will be the responsibility of the producer, not NRCS. Cost to replant will be the producers responsibility.

______Prepared by Date

______Landowner Signature Date
