<p>Show Star block #1 </p><p>We are going to be doing a ribbon theme this year. This block is a twin star with a ribbon.</p><p>Cutting Instructions:</p><p>Dark Fabric 1 – 4 ½ inch square for A piece in the middle 4 – 1 7/8 x 7 inch ribbons </p><p>Medium Fabric 1 - 5 ¼ square for B pieces 2 – 2 7/8 inch squares for D pieces</p><p>Light Fabric 4 – 4 ½ inch squares for corner A pieces 1 - 5 ¼ inch square for B pieces</p><p>Assembly Instructions:</p><p>Step 1: Cut B pieces across both diagonals to get 4 Quarter Square Triangles of each color. </p><p>Attach each medium triangle to a light triangle along a short side. Watch that the light fabric will end up on the outside when completed. Step 2: Cut your 2 7/8 inch medium squares on one diagonal. This will give you 4 Half Square Triangles. </p><p>Join your ribbons to your Half Square Triangles along the long side (hypotinus). Center the ribbons along the length of the traingle. There will be extra that will be cut off later. </p><p>* Half Square Traingles have the two short sides squared with the grain and the long side on the bias. Quarter Square Traingles have two bias sides, but those sides are toward the center of the finished unit with the straight side toward the outside of the finished unit.</p><p>Step 3: Attach the ribbon side to the Quarter Square Triangle pairs by placing the QST pairs on top and matching the opposite point. Sew ¼ from the long edge. Cut off the extra overhang of the ribbon after pressing open.</p><p>Step 4: Assemble your center row.</p><p>Step 5 Assemble your top and bottom rows.</p><p>Attach the top and bottom to the center. Press and bring to the Feb meeting. </p>
