<p>The Pittsburgh Philharmonic is pleased to announce its Summer Student Program 2017. High school instrumental students entering grades 8 – 12 are invited to audition for an opportunity to play side by side with the members of the Philharmonic for the entire summer season. Pittsburgh Philharmonic summer students work and play in a mentoring environment with experienced adult musicians. There may also be opportunities to play in small ensembles or chamber groups. These groups will be formed dependant upon instrumentation of the accepted summer students. Upon acceptance, the fee for the summer program is $50.</p><p>Audition requirements: Violin, viola ‘cello: Major Scales: 3 sharps and 3 flats memorized Solo: PMEA Grade level selection or Suzuki book 4 and higher Bass: Major Scales: 3 sharps and 3 flats memorized Solo: PMEA Grade level selection Woodwinds and brass: Major Scales: 3 sharps and 3 flats memorized Solo: PMEA Grade level selection Percussion: Solo: PMEA Grade level selection </p><p>Auditions: by appointment or Monday evening, May 22</p><p>Rehearsal Dates: Mondays, dates to be announced, at Scotus Hall at Mt. Alvernia in Millvale, 7:15-9:45 PM. </p><p>Performance dates: Tuesday, July 4 Fourth of July Celebration, Zelienople Friday, July 14 Moon Township Park Two or three more dates to be announced.
