Bauer (a former member of the U.S. Army Signal Corp.) who operated the station supported by contracts with the mining companies on Chichagof Island.</p><p>Major correspondence for the Chichagof Gold Mining Company, Chichagof, Alaska, was addressed to Nick Bez (company official outside Alaska), Arthur Rust, and James L. Freeman (official in charge at the mining camp).</p><p>Major correspondence for the Hirst-Chichagof Gold Mining Company, Radioville, Alaska, was addressed to Lew G. Kay (company official outside Alaska), and D. J. Williams (official in charge at the mining camp).</p><p>Inventory</p><p>Folder 1 Daily weather reports from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Weather Bureau-weather station, near Chichagof, Island. For January 1938.</p><p>Folder 2 Same as folder 1. For March - April 1938.</p><p>Folder 3 Same as folder 1. For May 1938. It was ran by Joseph T. Bauer.</p><p>The contents of each folder are arranged by date.</p><p>Folder 4 Messages of special interest sent and received between 1931 and 1938. This folder includes business messages to and from Joe Jackson, detailed invoices from Signal Corps, U.S. Army, a birth announcement, messages concerning the investigation of a death and other interesting topics.</p><p>Folder --5 Messages sent and received during 1930.</p><p>Folder -6 Messages to and from Lew G. Kay of Hirst-Chichagof Mining Co., Radioville, Alaska. 1931-1938.</p><p>Folder -7 Messages to and from James L. Freeburn of Chichagof Mining Co., Chichagof, Alaska. 1931-1938.</p><p>Folder 8 Messages sent and received during 1931. Most concern Hirst-Chichagof Mining Co., and Chichagof Mining Co. Many concern shipments of ore and personnel problems. Some concern the U.S. Forest Service camp near Radioville, which was headed by Mr. C.Burdick, U.S. Forest Ranger. A few messages concern Kimsham Cove.</p><p>Of the messages concerning the mining companies, most are supply orders and shipping instructions to Arthur Rust of Seattle, Westinghouse Electric Manufaturing Co., of Seattle, Ryan Fruit Co., of Seattle and several others.</p><p>Folder 9 Messages sent and received during 1932. Contains same as folder 8. Some correspondence with the B.M. Behrends Bank in Juneau.</p><p>Folder 10 Messages sent and received during 1934. Same as folder 8. Some correspondence with the Dupont Company.</p><p>Folder 11 Messages sent and received during 1937. Same as folder 8.</p><p>Folder 12 Messages sent and received during 1938. Same as folder 8. Many of these messages concern shipments of supplies with the Dupont Company, Union Oil, General Electric Co., Gray Marine Motor Co., and several others. Many personal messages between relatives concerning illnesses, deaths, and financial problems. Several messages about job offers and applications. Also several messages to and from John Reed-a geologist.</p><p>Folder 13 Messages that are not dated with a year. Some have a month and a day.
