<p> Media Release</p><p>1 February 2011</p><p>More new bike tracks at the Parklands</p><p>Work is complete on two new loop walking/cycle tracks in the Western Sydney Parklands at Glendenning.</p><p>These bike friendly bitumen sealed tracks now safely link up the communities of Glendenning and Woodcroft through the Parklands, making the ride to school or home a more peaceful and picturesque experience.</p><p>Starting off at the existing Parklands track 200 metres north of Richmond Road the new loops incorporate an elevated boardwalk to cross over low lying areas in the flood plains of Eastern Creek. After traversing the new RTA bike crossing lights at the intersection of Richmond Road and Quakers Hill Parkway, the second loop extends south.</p><p>A new bridge has been constructed to form a track crossing over Eastern Creek and the new loop then continues to meet up with the existing Parklands Track at Dean Park. Daracon were the contractors on this Parklands project.</p><p>Suellen Fitzgerald, Director of the Western Sydney Parklands Trust said “the safety of walkers and bicycle riders in the northern precinct of the Parklands has been greatly improved by these new loop tracks, boardwalk and bridge. In addition, users can now enjoy more of the bushland surroundings of the Parklands by using the new loop tracks’ east-west connections”.</p><p>The existing gravel track connecting Joe McAleer Park to the Parklands track has been sealed to enhance the bike riders’ experience.</p><p>In addition to the new loop tracks, new Parklands Track entry features have been installed at Peggy Court, Glennis Court, as well as two new entries along Richmond Road. Entry features include vibrant, highly visible signage and smart gabion walls. Directional finger signs are being installed during February. Bench seating will be installed by mid 2011 to provide resting places for walkers and cyclists along the new tracks.</p><p>Students from Glendenning Public School were recently the guests of Western Sydney Parklands Trust at a School Tree Planting Day and more than 200 Western Sydney native plants were installed adjacent to the new loop track at the new Eastern Creek bridge.
