<p>January 5, 2016</p><p>Deans & Directors Update </p><p>Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were wonderful and you are ready for 2016! Please save the date for the CNOs and Deans/Directors Summit on Tuesday, March 29th at the WellStar Development Center in Marietta. We will begin the day at 7:30am and finish by 4:00pm. We hope you will make every effort to attend the Summit! This will be an event that you will not want to miss! We have the opportunity to work together to make improvements that will make it more desirable for nurses to stay in nursing. Topics such as nurse residency programs, student clinical placement process, making the transition of new nurses into the workforce seamless and sustainable, are just a few. We want this to be the beginning of our collaboration toward building a better future for nursing in Georgia. The CNOs and Deans/Directors Advisory Committee is planning an exciting event that we hope you will want to attend! </p><p>The purpose of the Summit is to:</p><p>1. Establish stronger relationships between CNOs and Deans/Directors across Georgia.</p><p>2. Present an academic and practice state of the union address to lay a foundation for energizing us to work together toward specific goals. </p><p>3. Start a dialogue that acknowledges what is being done on both sides while also identifying how we can build a better nursing future, focused on new possibilities and the opportunity to change what the future could be.</p><p>4. Identify the work that can be done collaboratively to influence bedside nurses to further their education.</p><p>5. Build relationships with legislative colleagues and enhance their knowledge and understanding of nursing. </p><p>You will receive more information about the Summit soon!
