Your enthusiasm, initiative and drive will make a massive difference to Macmillan and, ultimately, to the lives of people affected by cancer.</p><p>About the role</p><p>The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is the UK’s second biggest marathon and we’re very excited to once again be partners in this hugely successful event. In this role, you will join your local fundraising team and work with them to:</p><p> Provide project planning and event management support to our team – from setting up meetings and working with key stakeholders to distributing printwork and using social media to promote the marathon to runners and volunteers.</p><p> Work with the team to recruit volunteers for our crucial cheerpoints, providing clear briefs and co-ordinating their activity on the day to ensure they have a great experience.</p><p> Source case studies, arrange interviews and photo shoots to support volunteer recruitment.</p><p> Support our amazing runners who hope to raise over £500,000 to fund our vital services.</p><p>What are the benefits?  Develop essential skills in event management, project planning and volunteer recruitment, enhancing your CV with our CV writing support and written references</p><p> Join an enthusiastic and supportive team of people, and benefit from our internal mentoring scheme</p><p> Receiving relevant training and agreed out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed within our guidelines.</p><p> Have a rewarding experience making a difference to people affected by cancer. Preferred qualities and skills</p><p> Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to use Powerpoint, Word and Excel confidently.</p><p> Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines.</p><p> Able to work on own initiative, within specified guidelines, to support progress of projects.</p><p> Demonstrable ability to work as part of a team.</p><p> Confidence in building rapport with volunteers and supporters face to face and over the phone.</p><p> Access to a car or ability to use public transport, plus internet connection at home.</p><p>What’s the commitment?</p><p> 3-4 days a week, Monday to Friday, between February and May 2016, working between home and our city centre office, with some travel to local meetings or to distribute materials.</p><p> Flexible times and days to suit you; you need to be available on the Festival weekend which is 28th/29th May</p><p>Apply today by completing the online application form.
