Grapevine and San Antonio November 26 - December 1, 2012

Come join us for memorable winter wonderlands in historic Grapevine and San Antonio, Texas. “Grapevine is the essence of holiday décor as the city becomes blanketed with millions of lights, enormous decorations, animated characters and a whole lot more.” With all of this plus great shopping for everyone on your list, Grapevine is truly the “Christmas Capital of Texas.” San Antonio is a magical place to visit any time of year but, during the holiday season, the city really puts on the charm, especially along the River Walk or Paseo del Rio. Over 122,000 multi-colored holiday lights hang from the tall cypress trees that line the river, reflecting off the water's surface.

Monday, November 26: A BIG TEXAS welcome awaits you as you board your Kincaid Motor Coach this morning. Our next two nights will be at the Hyatt Place in Grapevine. Our included dinner tonight will be at the Love and War in Texas. Certainly an epic name for what has become an epic restaurant. Love & War in Texas is a restaurant developed by two Texans to promote Texas, Texans, Texas food and Texas Heritage. (Dinner included)

Tuesday, November 27: After our breakfast at the hotel, we will tour the beautiful Gaylord Texan which provides a winter wonderland including 1.5 million holiday lights, a 52 rotating Christmas tree, a life-sized Gingerbread House, 12,000 ornaments and Santa Claus himself. While there, we will tour ICE! The ICE! experience will give visitors an opportunity to visit a whimsical winter wonderland of interactive environments; larger-than-life, three-dimensional ice monuments; and colorful ice sculptures - many of which are more than 25 feet in length. This icy exhibit is created from 1.5 million pounds of ice and is kept at a chilly 9 degrees. ICE! blends amazing frozen creations with thrilling ice slides, all enhanced by dramatic lighting and special effects. To stay comfortable throughout this "frozen wonderland”, guests are issued complimentary warm parkas with hoods. Theme for 2012 will be announced later. Lunch (on own) will be at the Grapevine Mills Mall with time for shopping afterwards. Representatives from the convention center will give us a tour of Grapevine early afternoon, including a stop at the 9/11 Memorial. Next on today’s agenda will be bottling our own wine at SuVinos. Dinner (included) will be at Willhoites in downtown Grapevine. Afterwards we will stroll down Main Street enjoying the many sights and sounds of Christmas. (Breakfast and Dinner included)

Wednesday, November 28: Following breakfast at our hotel, we say a fond goodbye to the Christmas Capital of Texas and head it to the actual capital, Austin. This afternoon we will visit The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in downtown Austin, Texas, which tells the “Story of Texas” with three floors of interactive exhibits. A 35-foot-tall bronze Lone Star sculpture greets visitors in front of the Museum, and a colorful terrazzo floor in the Museum’s rotunda features a campfire scene with enduring themes from Texas’ past. Then we head it further south to historic San Antonio. Our stay for the next two nights will be at the Riverwalk Drury Plaza. Our evening will be free so you can enjoy the multitude of lights along the riverwalk on your own. (Breakfast included) Thursday, November 29: Breakfast will be at our hotel. A viewing of The Alamo at the IMAX will set the stage for viewing the actual historical site. Originally named Misión San Antonio de Valero, the Alamo played a critical role in Texas history. “People worldwide continue to remember the Alamo as a heroic struggle against impossible odds — a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. For this reason, the Alamo remains hallowed ground and the Shrine of Texas Liberty.” Lunch (included) today will be on top of Tower of America. That afternoon we will tour another one of San Antonio’s missions: San Jose which is the “Queen of the Missions”. One cannot go to San Antonio without a river cruise. This evening’s activity will enable us to see and hear all of the sites and sounds of the Christmas season of the river. (Breakfast and Lunch included)

Friday, November 30: Breakfast will once again be at the hotel. While we do say goodbye to historic San Antonio, we are not quite finished with Christmas, Texas Style as we will roll into Fort Worth Stockyards for lunch (on own).
