
<p>Good afternoon!</p><p>This web site will allow you to keep up with what’s going on at Palmetto. Each week Palmetto Middle School is going to post a weekly update on this page. This site will keep you informed of upcoming events, trips, dates, projects, and holidays. Please ask around to see if other parents are checking this web page for the updates.</p><p>Upcoming Events and Dates:</p><p> BETA Club meeting is September 13th after school.</p><p> 8th Grade Pirate Day is September 15th.</p><p> Progress Reports go home on September 16th.</p><p> Monday, September 26th, Staff Development Day Students do not report to school.</p><p> Palmetto’s Finest hours are due on October 19th.</p><p>PSAT Announcement Parents of students taking the PSAT, permission forms and money are due on or before Thursday, September 22nd. </p><p>Important Information from our PTSO 1. The PTSO will be holding a school T-shirt design contest for the students beginning September 12th. The cost is $1.00 to submit a T-shirt design. See Mrs. Sanders or Mrs. Roulette for an entry form at lunch in the PTSO portable. The contest will end on October 1st at the end of the school day. The students will then be able to vote on the top 3 chosen designs at lunch. The winner will have their logo featured on our school shirts this year. The word "Palmetto", the mustang mascot, the horseshoe logo or a combination of these three must be represented. It's the student's chance to be involved in deciding what type of T-shirt they'd like to wear! Enter the design contest and then vote for your favorite! We will be selling the winning shirt design sometime before December. (We need Mr. Brooks' telephone number to be sure about the date. Michelle didn't give it to us. Could you tell us how to go about ordering from him and give us a number to reach him at? Thanks!) </p><p>2. The PTSO will be starting after school snack sales by the end of September. "Mustang Munchies" will be on sale from 3:00-3:45 p.m. after school. Everything is $1.50 or less. We have drinks, snack foods, candy, healthy snacks and gum; no gum inside the school building or spat out in the school yard, we have trash cans people! We will also be serving cappuccinos for $1.50. Join us for a refreshing treat before Cross Country or Football practice! JUST A NOTE: Mr. Knight will not allow us to provide "Mustang Munchies" if the trash from your snacks or gum is found on the school grounds. On Friday, September 16, the strings room will be transformed in to the MUSTANG STAR LANES! Students can use their MUSTANG BUCKS to purchase healthy snacks while we "Bowl our way to All-County Victory" </p><p> Tuesday wear your crazy socks to "stomp" on the competition Wednesday wear your favorite team shirt to "Team up” against those other middle school string players" Thursday wear your favorite Palmetto Mustang shirt to "Show you school Pride" Friday will be our chance to show off our bowling skills as well as our "bowing" skills :)</p><p>All-County Auditions are Tuesday, September 20th at McCants Middle School. Please check with your strings student for their specific audition time. This form should be returned to Mrs. Wimberly. </p><p>Palmetto’s Finest Updates Palmetto’s Finest Cards get you in free to all C-Team HOME football games and front of the lunch line EVERYDAY!</p><p>Palmetto’s Finest Qualifications for the 1st Nine Weeks Please email Mr. Knight at [email protected] if you have any questions.</p><p>To earn Palmetto's Finest you must meet the following criteria: 1) All grades 80's and above 2) No demerits for the nine week period 3) No more than 2 unexcused absences. 4) Complete community service hours</p><p>Click here for a copy of the Community Service Hours Form </p><p>10 hours of service are required for the first quarter. Students simply record the hours they volunteer, the service they provided, and have the supervisor sign and record their phone number.</p><p>Guidelines for hours 1. Ten hours of community service is required each nine weeks. 2. No more than four (4) hours of service can be directly related to any family member. 3. Completed service hours are due to your Homeroom teacher on the last day of the quarter. The set of nine dice have pictures on each side that inspire storytelling and creative play.
