I live in southwest Oregon and am deeply concerned about the adverse impact of the BLM’s huge logging plans. </p><p>My husband and I moved to the Cave Junction area and bought a home because of the beauty, quiet, natural recreational places, and the views of tall old growth trees on the mountains and ridges in our area. We are hikers and trail-riders and belong to Back Country Horsemen. We take an active role in preserving the many miles of forest and mountain trails for hiking, riding horses, and camping. We also enjoy the clean air and water in the Illinois Valley. </p><p>I believe the WOPR will destroy the Northwest Forest Plan and other protections of Oregon forests, wildlife habitat, water and air in the southwest and western parts of our state. The benefits to the BLM, timber companies and government agencies is small and short-term only. The consequences of it are dangerous, damaging and illegal. </p><p>I am among many other Oregon residents who oppose this plan because of the damage it will bring us – to our precious old growth forest stands, our quality of life, our peace, wildlife habitat, and clean water for spawning salmon. The long term impacts are terrible to us who live here and not worth the small benefits claimed by the BLM. </p><p>Stop the Western Oregon Plan Revision now. It’s a bad idea for all involved, but especially for the humans, wildlife, lands, and waters affected. </p><p>Thank you for your attention to this letter. </p><p>Linda Corey-Woodward</p>
