<p> Present Progressive Tense</p><p>A. Used to emphasize an action that is currently in progress B. Has English equivalent of –ing C. Is formed with two parts 1. Estar in correct form 2. Followed by the present participle form =ing</p><p>Let’s look at some examples:</p><p>Ahora estoy hablando. Estás comiendo un sándwich. José está recibiendo un regalo de sus abuelos. Estamos escuchando la música rap. Estáis bebiendo un refresco. Uds. están escribiendo un reportaje.</p><p>Notice that each example above had a form of <estar> immediately followed by a present participle. To form the participles:</p><p>1. Remove the infinitive ending (-ar/-er/-ir). 2. Add –ando to –ar verbs. 3. Add –iendo to –er/-ir verbs.</p><p>Estar + -ando/-iendo Let’s look at some irregular participles: Ir  yendo Creer  creyendo Traer  trayendo Dormir  durmiendo Morir  muriendo Servir  sirviendo Pedir  pidiendo Oír  oyendo Preferir  prefiriendo Decir  diciendo</p><p>*Note: -ir verbs that stem-change, have a stem-change in the participle form.</p><p>For the past progressive tense conjugate <<estar>> into the imperfect tense followed by the participles. It emphasizes the action taking place a specific moment in the past.</p><p>Estaba Estábamos Estabas Estabais + -ando/-iendo Estaba Estaban</p>
