The rigorous hygiene requirements necessitate the regular use of hot water (or steam) and cleaning agents. If conveyor belts and processing belts are to perform without malfunctioning and for as long as possible, then they need to withstand high temperatures and hydrolysis very well. Forbo Movement Systems has now introduced a new type of belt just right for these applications.

The Siegling Transilon E 8/2 0/A2 MT-TT white FDA is a fabric-based polyolefin belt with an additional top face made of polypropylene (PP). This coating makes the belt especially resistant to hot water and steam (i.e. hydrolysis resistant). Temperatures of up to 120 °C – and, for short periods, even up to 140 °C – are unproblematic. It also has very good release characteristics with regard to sticky foodstuffs (caramels, muesli bars, etc.) as well as moist and sticky tobacco.

The belt is also ‘troughable’ – important for the conveyance of bulk goods – and complies with FDA, EU and MHLW regulations for use in the food industry.

This belt was originally developed for manufacturing steam-cooked rice for a customer in China. In the very humid and hot (> 95 °C) processing conditions that prevail when steam cooking, release characteristics and hydrolysis resistance play a pivotal role in the way the belt functions and how long it lasts. Furthermore, the new belt has proved to be excellent as a cooling-channel belt for conveying hot caramel (approx. 120 °C). PRESS RELEASE PAGE 2 OF 2

This belt also performs superbly in troughed conveying of moist tobacco. The special release characteristic of the polypropylene coating and the hard-wearing top face have already proved how good it is in this segment.

Forbo Movement Systems (previous called Siegling) employs more than 2,000 people globally in nine production sites and 25 international companies. Forbo conveyor and power transmission belts are used in nearly all industries, but also in the retail and services sectors. Key competencies are the food and packaging industries, logistics and airports, as well as paper, print and raw materials industries. The company was founded in 1919 in Hanover. Since 1994 the company has belonged to the Swiss company Forbo International. The products have been marketed since 2007 under the “Forbo

Movement Systems” master brand.

For further information: Matthias Eilert Marketing Communications Phone +49 511 67 04 232, Fax +49 511 67 04 233 [email protected]
