<p> NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY</p><p>Student Job Description</p><p>TITLE: Special Events Coordinator</p><p>COMPENSATION: $8.90/hour; 15 hours/week (average)</p><p>BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY: </p><p>The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Special Events Committee, a volunteer student programming organization that plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates the annual Homecoming and WinterFest activities.</p><p>CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p><p>1. Provide overall direction for the Special Events Committee and its activities, including Homecoming and WinterFest.</p><p>2. Recruit, orient, and train members of the Special Events Committee.</p><p>3. Coordinate the selection and training of the chairpeople of Special Events Subcommittees.</p><p>4. Maintain 8-10 posted office hours so as to be available to Committee members, other students, faculty, staff, and community members.</p><p>5. Assist in the preparation of the Special Events budget and monitor all expenditures.</p><p>6. Monitor and assist with attempts to arrange for sponsorships and special promotions.</p><p>7. Maintain files, notebooks, and "how to" materials for Special Events programs.</p><p>8. Coordinate the selection process for the annual Student Organization Awards.</p><p>9. Chair the planning committee for the Leadership Recognition Banquet.</p><p>10. Assist with leadership and other office presentations both in and out of the classroom.</p><p>11. Assist with the production of the semesterly Care Package Program.</p><p>12. Assist with the maintenance of campus posting areas.</p><p>13. Prepare reports, answer correspondence, and make presentations as deemed necessary by the Director, Associate Director, or Coordinator of the Center for Student Enrichment.</p><p>14. Attend staff meetings, retreats, and regularly scheduled meetings with the Graduate Assistant of the Center for Student Enrichment.</p><p>15. Communicate regularly with the Graduate Assistant of the Center for Student Enrichment. 16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Graduate Assistant of the Center for Student Enrichment.</p><p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED:</p><p>From the CSE Graduate Student Assistant.</p><p>SUPERVISION EXERCISED:</p><p>None.</p><p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p><p>1. Cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher; minimum semester G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher during the semester preceding application for employment; a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher must be earned each semester for continuation of employment.</p><p>2. Sophomore status or above.</p><p>3. Above average communication skills — writing, speaking, and listening.</p><p>4. Experience as a member of at least one student organization at Northern Michigan University.</p><p>5. Work-study preferred.</p><p>3/10/2015</p>
