<p> FREDERICKSBURG AREA BAR ASSOCIATION PROUDLY SUPPORTS WILLS FOR HEROES PROGRAM</p><p>Sponsored by the VIRGINIA STATE BAR’S YOUNG LAWYERS COMMITTEE and The VIRGINIA BAR ASSOCIATION’S YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION</p><p>WHAT IS IT?</p><p>Wills for Heroes is a program jointly sponsored in Virginia by the VSB Young Lawyers Conference (YLC) and the VBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD), in conjunction with the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association (FABA) to provide wills, powers of attorney and medical directs to local emergency personnel. The documents are prepared by volunteer attorneys using the “HotDocs” document assembly program. The key to the success of Wills for Heroes is YOU, the volunteer attorney! ALL Virginia licensed attorneys are welcomed and encouraged to participate!!</p><p>HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?</p><p>Volunteer attorneys will attend a FREE CLE conducted by Bob Barlow, Esquire, at the Fredericksburg City Police Department Training Room, 2200 Cowan Boulevard, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401, that introduces the volunteers to the program, explains the various options, and discusses the logistics of the program. Volunteers must attend the CLE to participate and will earn 1.5 hours of CLE credit for their participation. The CLEs are scheduled for:</p><p>Monday, February 15, 2010 @ 12noon – 1:30 pm</p><p>OR</p><p>Saturday, February 20, 2010 @ 10am – 11:30am</p><p>Next, volunteer attorneys will sign up to participate in at least one document preparation session. The document preparation sessions are currently anticipated to be held on the first two weekends in March. Exact dates and locations to be announced. In advance of the document preparation, emergency personnel will have attended education sessions also conducted by Trust and Estate attorneys, and will have completed worksheets in order to expedite the document preparation. Each volunteer attorney will prepare basic estate plans (wills, powers of attorney and medical directives) for approximately 4-5 estates.</p><p>The VSB YLC, VBA YLD, and FABA look forward to working with you to provide this valuable service for our heroes!
