Humans Explain Their Origins in Different Ways

<p>Dear Parents, August 2012</p><p>Our first Primary Years Programme Unit of Inquiry is “Humans explain their origins in different ways” and involves an inquiry into the myths, religions and theories, which explain the origins of life and how they differ between cultures. </p><p>Please review the details of the unit below so that connections can be made between home and our learning at school. </p><p>Central Idea: </p><p>Humans explain their origins in different ways</p><p>An Inquiry Into:</p><p> Myths, religions and theories about origins of life  How myths, religions and theories differ</p><p>Teacher Questions:</p><p> What are the major differences / similarities between myths?  Where do religions and theories stem from?</p><p>In order to make this a truly rich unit, we encourage all parents to make connections related to the unit outside of school. Some things to try:</p><p> Discuss any creation stories that are linked to your family’s culture.  Collect creation stories from local library and read them together.  Research creation theories on the internet.
