<p> ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION</p><p>TOWNSHIP OF MAHWAH</p><p>SEPTEMBER 10, 2014</p><p>The meeting of the Environmental Commission was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Richard Wolf, Chairman. The Opening Statement was made. Roll call was taken.</p><p>Present: Jonathan Marcus Linda Meisel Carol Phiefer Richard Reilly Richard Seibert Richard Wolf</p><p>Absent: Daniel Weixeldorfer Jane DeWan (secretary)</p><p>MINUTES The Minutes of the meeting held on August 13, 2014 were discussed and approved following a motion by Richard Seibert; seconded by Richard Reilly. The Minutes of the meeting held on August 27, 2014, were approved following a motion made by Carol Phiefer; seconded by Richard Reilly.</p><p>OLD BUSINESS Tree Preservation Applications: 1, 7, 8, 2 Kensington Court Dkt. 355FS1, S2, S3, S4 – tree preservations applications were approved as presented to and reviewed by Commission on August 27. Dick Seibert and Carol Phiefer’s inspection of the site was discussed. Lot 59.01 26 trees on site, 20 to be removed, 5 replacement trees Lot 59.02 23 trees on site, 12 to be removed, 3 replacement trees Lot 59.03 27 trees on site, 21 to be removed, 6 replacement trees Lot 59.04 21 trees on site, 18 to be removed, 5 replacement trees</p><p>Richard Lane, 43 Masonicus Road Replacement of five trees was approved at 43 Masonicus Road. The Environmental Commission authorized Black Tupolo to be added to the approved tree list at the request of Mr. Lane. Locations to plant new trees may be selected by the homeowner.</p><p>Smith property, 7 West Road Tim Fox of Horizon Landscaping requested permission to use red glory maple, 2 ½ - 3”, as one replacement tree at 7 West Road – Approved. 2</p><p>Commission members discussed the tree removal ordinance requirements and possible future requirements for tree removal/landscaping companies.</p><p>Mahwah Day Rich Wolf will be at Mahwah Day with Dick Seibert and Carol Phiefer. Rich handed out passes to commission members for set up parking.</p><p>SOIL MOVEMENT PERMIT APPLICATIONS The following memos were written to Administrative Officer. “Lynda Wall & Phil DiGennaro, 29 Surrey Lane Block 21.01, Lot 37, Dkt. 1378-14(S), dated 8/11/14 The Environmental Commission reviewed the application for installing an in ground swimming pool at 28 Surrey Lane. The application is approved. The tree preservation application states that no trees will be removed for this project. cc: Township Engineer”</p><p>“Michael & Alicia Campanile, 18 Surrey Lane Block 21.02, Lot 29, E-BD-216-304-599, dated 9/2/14 The Environmental Commission reviewed the application for installing a new swimming pool at 18 Surrey Lane. The application is approved. The tree preservation application states that no trees will be removed for this project. cc: Township Engineer”</p><p>“David Maniaci, 101 Halifax Road Block 1, Lot 120, E-BD-216-2732, dated 9/8/14 The Environmental Commission reviewed the application for relocating an existing driveway at 101 Halifax Road. The application is approved. The Tree Preservation Application states that two trees will be removed. The resident will install one maple replacement tree. cc: Township Engineer”</p><p>TENANT APPLICATIONS The following tenant applications were reviewed and approved.</p><p> Quick & Easy Mortgage Service, Inc., 200 Route 17 South – mortgage broker  Event Hair Studio, 1 International Blvd, 2nd floor – hair salon  RMK Consulting Inc., 14 Industrial Avenue – consulting firm</p><p>CORRESPONDENCE Letter received from NJ DEP concerning remediation /underground storage tank at 845 Darlington Avenue. No further action needed. 3</p><p>Letter received from KSE Engineers to NJ DEP on replacement of Ramapo Valley Road culvert over Darlington Brook – stream encroachment application review. Agendas and minutes received from Township Council, Planning Board, Zoning Board were reviewed.</p><p>NEW BUISINESS Karin LaGreca submitted to proposal concerning sustainability and her work with other municipalities and Commissions in an effort to attain certification with Sustainable Jersey. All were in favor of her working on sustainability credits in Mahwah. Discussion will continue at the next meeting.</p><p>The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m. </p><p>These Minutes were prepared from notes taken by Richard Seibert.</p><p>The next meeting of the Environmental Commission will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, N.J.</p><p>J.
