
<p> French 4 AP/IB Summer Work</p><p>Your summer work will consist of three things. It will be worth 550 points. All of this will be due the first full day of class. I. You will do four journal entries. 200 pts/50 pts each. They will be on four of the following 6 themes and should include current events</p><p>Exploratory Learning Journal</p><p>To become amazing at French, you'll have to allow the language to become a part of your daily routine. The music you listen to, the websites you visit, the people you talk to, where and how you eat, the books you read, the videogames you play, if any of these are influenced by the French language and culture, you will be on the road to being amazing at French. It cannot stop with your language class, no matter how fun or engaging it is (or isn't). Jump in, stay in. Become amazing. Keeping a journal of the things you discover will help you reflect on your learning, will help you retain all that you are taking in. The whole process can take as little as 20 minutes on any given day. The journal will document the READING, the LISTENING and SPEAKING that you experience. And of course the journal will help you practice your WRITING. </p><p>For the AP/IB Exploratory Learning Journal, you will research four of the themes covered in the coursework. DO NOT COPY TEXT and be creative. </p><p>Journal #1 Les défis mondiaux (Global challenges) Find articles or videos in French concerning racism, human rights, war, world hunger, the environment. </p><p>Le défi (the problem): ______Ce qui se passe et mes pensées: ______</p><p>Journal #2 Les défis mondiaux II Find more articles or videos in French concerning racism, human rights, war, world hunger, the environment. </p><p>Le défi (the problem): ______Ce qui se passe et mes pensées: ______</p><p>Journal #3 La science et la technologie Research new advancements in research, science, technology in the French world. </p><p>Ce que j’ai découvert et mes pensées : ______</p><p>Journal #4 La famille et la communauté</p><p>Do some research about francophone families and discover what they consider important or what struggles they face in the world today. </p><p>______</p><p>Journal #5 L’esthétique (Asthetics and Beauty)</p><p>Find something you think of as beautiful from the francophone world. It can be a person, a place, a piece of art. Describe it. ______</p><p>II. You will read “Le Petit Prince” and be prepared to discuss it and take a 10 question, 100 pt quiz on the first full day of class. There are copies for free in the library as well as for free online. For a print version of your own, Amazon offers them for about $5.</p><p>III. Finish Duolingo (250 points) Go to https://www.duolingo.com/o/gxqwvm to join the class. All the work you have already done will transfer to the new class. Finish all of the exercices. </p>
