<p>drummond street services Child and Family and Recovery Practitioner Position Description</p><p>Position Title: Child and Family and Recovery Practitioner Position SCHADS Award 2010. Grade: Department/Divis Royal Commission iHeal Program Position No. ion: Reporting to: iHeal Team Leader Position To provide high quality, provision of recovery orientated family and child trauma summary/purpos informed support to couples, individuals, families and young people engaged in e: Drummond Street services. Key Responsibilities Supportive family and child focused interventions  Provide centre based and outreach support for children, young people and their families that reduce risks and increases protective factors for a range of developmental outcomes.  Utilise prevention and early intervention strategies that are holistic and family centred.  Provide psycho-social and skills-based educational seminars and group work for families, including issues relating to mental health literacy, relationships, parenting, children and young people’s mental health, wellbeing and positive development.  Support the design, delivery and implementation of evidence based and intentional family-based programs.  Provide community engagement and development approaches to build supportive pathways for vulnerable communities and families  Development and implementation of individual case plans based on sensitive assessment, in collaboration with the client, consistent with ds’ whole-of-family approach.  Assertive engagement of client cohorts that have specific needs, including those considered socially marginalised or resource poor to lessen the impact of social exclusion, including aboriginal families, emerging culturally diverse communities and greater risk cohorts including LGBTIQ.  Sound knowledge of service systems including housing, mental health, drug and alcohol, justice and corrections  Contribute to the achievement of individual, team and organisational program targets and KPIs as per contractual agreements with funders and those determined by drummond street  Complete all client records and other required documentation including case plans and client assessments  Ensure adherence to professional practice standards and DS’s policies and procedures including those relating to Practice. </p><p>May 2017 Specific interventions within iHeal Royal Commission Community Based Support Services  The provision of support and information to families and individuals choosing to engage throughout and post the Royal Commission process;  Implement the delivery of a range of recovery interventions to adults and families who have experienced complex child sexual abuse (cumulative trauma experiences) Networking and Partnerships  Represent the organisation positively with a range of external health, social services and other relevant providers for the purpose of making appropriate client referrals, providing conjoint support where required, and marketing and promoting the agency programs.  To use community development approaches (social justice, equality and mutual respect) to increase self- efficacy and empowerment of the communities  Develop and deliver training to community members, partners and broader sector  Network with a range of external health, social services and educational providers for the purpose of making appropriate client referrals or conjoint work where required, and to market and promote agency programs.  Work collaboratively with other services to identify and address services gaps and client needs.  Provide active, intentional work within risk and protective factors framework to support families’ goals and aspirations. Research and Evaluation  Assist with the design and implementation of research and evaluation activities, and assist with data collection, recording and analysis and report writing as required. Key Competencies/Skills (no more than 6 of each) Experience Profile (incl Qualifications) (No more than 6) Behavioural Competency Technical/Functional  Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Family  Ability to work  High level trauma counselling Therapy or Psychology and further training in independently and skills relation to families work within a close team  Experience in recovery  A minimum of three years’ experience in  Capability with cross oriented practice the family services and/or mental health cultural  Counselling and case sectors communication, management skills  Demonstrated knowledge of complex facilitation, and  Strong knowledge of trauma and recovery approaches to training determinants of risk and intervention  Understanding of and protective factors for mental  Demonstrated knowledge and application experience in working health within diverse of a range of therapeutic approaches for with people from communities individuals, couples, families and specifically diverse backgrounds  Family-aware and inclusive children and young people. including LGBTIQ, practice  Demonstrated experience with providing May 2017 CALD and people with  Sound Information Technology supportive counselling and case work that disabilities and neuro- and written and verbal supports children and families with multiple diverse backgrounds communication skills and complex needs such as mental health,  The ability to work in a  Group facilitation skills family violence, issues. high pressure  Case work skills including case  Demonstrated high level written, oral and environment management, prioritisation and interpersonal communication skills  High level of self- administration  A genuine interest and commitment to awareness,  A current Working with working with LGBTIQ, refugee and CaLD and professionalism and Children Card, or ability to secure other higher risk cohorts. social justice values one.  A current Australian driver’s license or competency with public transport Position Dimensions Decision Making Authority No. Of FTE: N/A  Clear direction to case interventions in the Operates within cross-disciplinary teams and across multiple context of assessment and case planning service sites.  Responsible for the management of case load, in consultation with their Manager. </p><p>May 2017</p>
