The purpose of the SJRCATA Scholarship is to encourage students to seek a career in the Agriculture Education profession.</p><p>2. Who May Apply?  Any fifth year Agriculture Education post-baccalaureate student who will be completing their “student teaching” requirements in either the upcoming fall or spring term; and  Is a son or daughter of a SJRCATA member; and/or  Is a graduate of a SJR high school; and  A student member of CATA; and  Shows financial need.</p><p>3. Each applicant must prepare an application and supporting documents and submit the completed package (the original) to the Scholarship Chairman prior to the start of the Regional CATA Meeting of the semester they are completing their student teaching assignment. Applications are to be personally delivered to the Scholarship Chairman during registration on the morning of the appropriate regional meeting.</p><p>Darlene Gilles, SJRCATA Scholarship Chairman</p><p>4. Two $500 scholarships may be awarded each year.</p><p>5. Each application package must:  Include a completed SJRCATA scholarship form.  Include one unopened copy of your official college transcripts.  Include a résumé  Be stapled with applicants name clearly stated on the cover.  Include a recent wallet-size photo of the applicant. For promotional purposes only.  Include a written statement of not more than 200 words that include: 1) Why you want to be an ag teacher, 2) Why you qualify for a SJRCATA scholarship, 3) How this scholarship will help you achieve your goals and 4) A statement of financial need and your financial contribution towards your final student teaching.  Include a list of occupational experience or T14 form.  The application will not be considered for scoring if missing any one of the above.</p><p>6. The recipients will be selected based on a 100 point scoring system as follows: Application (10points), Activities (30 points), Résumé (10 points), Written Statement (50 points). Applicants must receive a minimum of 80 points to be considered for the scholarship. Points will be awarded based on a subjective review of the applications by the scholarship committee.</p><p>7. The SJRCATA Scholarship Committee will make the final decisions on all applications and those decisions will not be subject to review.</p><p>8. The Scholarship Committee will be comprised of the current Sectional Vice Presidents and the chairman.</p><p>9. The SJRCATA Scholarship recipients will be announced at the Fall and Spring CATA Regional meetings by the committee chairperson or his/her representative.</p>
