Research: focused on advancing the methodology and utility of the technology used to investigate reflux and swallowing disorders. Member of the International High Resolution Manometry Working Group. Member of the Neurogastroenterology & Motility Committee of the British Society of Gastroenterology and Clinical Representative for the Association of GI Physiologists (AGIP) Committee. As a member of the Upper GI Endoscopy team at UCH, he has a particular interest in investigating and managing complex benign and malignant upper GI disorders such as Achalasia (including POEM), Barrett’s oesophagus (chromoendoscopy as well as Radio-frequency Ablation and Endoscopic Mucosal Resection) and cancer (dilatation, stent and laser).</p><p>Mr Stephen E Attwood Honorary Professor, Health Services Research Centre, Durham University, Consultant Gastro-Intestinal Surgeon, Upper GI and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Northumbria Healthcare Trust, Secretary Oesophageal Section of BSG, NICE advisor on Interventional Devices in Gastroenterology.
