<p>EXPLORING TECHNOLOGY 10 EXAM PROJECT</p><p>Directions: Over the 5 exam days (June 10th – 16th) you must choose and complete 3 of the assignments below. Each assignment must be from a different Part of our curriculum. All projects should be completed by the end of class on Tuesday, June 16th. Resource students must complete 2 of the assignments.</p><p>Part 1 – Introduction to Technology Students will be expected to 1.1 identify technology in its various forms 1.2 demonstrate an understanding of the impacts of technology and its cultural and historical influences 1.3 demonstrate an understanding of the history and evolution of a specific area of technology 1.4 investigate strengths related to technological career options 1.5 demonstrate an ability to work in a team 1.6 solve technological problems using the modified problem-solving model 1.7 create design portfolios for solutions to each design problem 1.8 implement life-cycle analysis when designing and constructing solutions to technological problems 1.9 use a variety of materials and tools as part of solving technological problems 1.10 demonstrate safety rules for tools and machines used 1.11 demonstrate safe attitudes and practices in the laboratory 1.12 safely employ appropriate tools, machines, and equipment to solve technological Problems</p><p>Assignment: a) Create a short animation to demonstrate 2 safety attitudes. For examples see: http://www.technologystudent.com/health1/ed1.htm or b) Research the life-cycle of a product and create an animation, flow chart, poster, presentation demonstrating the life cycle. For an example see: http://www.technologystudent.com/prddes1/lifecy1.html or c) Research the history of a technology like a windmill, clock, car, train, boat, computer, mechanical pencil, bridges, housing, dams, etc., and create an animated essay. For an example see: http://www.technologystudent.com/prddes1/hisclk1.html</p><p>Part 2 – Media Technology Students will be expected to 3.1 demonstrate an understanding of the principles of design 3.2 demonstrate an awareness of diverse target audiences 3.3 create solutions to design problems using a variety of communication media 3.4 demonstrate effective use of communications and design tools</p><p>Assignment: a) Create a Celebrity Portrait such as shown below: b) Plan and produce an attention-grabbing Print-Advertisement (for magazines, newspaper or poster) for a non-profit group. The goal is to inform, educate and or persuade a specific audience about a meaningful issue or concern. Target group: 15 – 18 year olds. </p><p> c) Plan and produce a Photo-Story 3 or Windows Movie Maker or Power Point or Flash moving picture show for a non-profit group. The goal is to inform, educate and or persuade a specific audience about a meaningful issue or concern. Target group: 15 – 18 year olds. </p><p>Part 3 – Engineering Technology Students will be expected to 5.1 employ appropriate technical drawing techniques 5.2 design and construct solutions to real-world engineering technology problems 5.3 evaluate solutions to problems by selecting appropriate testing methods 5.4 demonstrate an understanding of various STEM (science, technology engineering, math) connections to design problems</p><p>Assignment: a) Design a Cam-Driven toy. For examples see this link: http://www.technologystudent.com/cams/cam5.htm b) Design a computer desk.</p><p>Part 4 – Green Technology Students will be expected to 2.1 examine the consequences of technology in global manufacturing systems 2.2 examine the consequences of technology in domestic use and consumption of energy 2.3 design and construct a model renewable energy system 2.4 manipulate and test a renewable energy system</p><p>Assignment: a) Design an Energy-efficient house. b) Create a pictorial dystopia of a future where our environment has been destroyed. c) Select a type of new-energy and create an animation demo to demonstrate how the energy works.
