<p> STEPHENS COUNTY SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT M I N U T E S SEPTEMBER 19, 2011 EASTANOLLEE, GEORGIA</p><p>The Supervisors of the Stephens County Soil and Water Conservation District met on Monday, September 10, 2011 at the Kimsey Environmental Center in Eastanollee, Georgia. Supervisors present were: Roger Sheppard, Evan Hellenga and Jeanette Jamieson. Supervisor absent was: Willard Kimsey. Others present were: Robert Amos, Jonsey Haygood, Alan Smith and Russell Biggers. Chairman Sheppard gave the welcome and Supervisor Hellenga gave the invocation. The minutes of the August meeting were approved on a motion by Jamieson and seconded by Hellenga. The motion passed. District Treasurer Hellenga gave the treasury report. Smith reported that there has been an average of three (3) paid meetings at the Kimsey Center per month. The supervisors discussed the condition of the carpet in the meeting room at the Center and after discussion a motion was made by Jamieson and seconded by Hellenga to look into the option of replacing the carpet with tile or new carpet with a cost cap of $4000 on the carpet. The motion passed. The report was approved by the supervisors. Regional Representative Amos gave the State Conservation Commission report. Amos reported that the Group II Summer Meeting held Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the White County Ag Center in Cleveland, Georgia went well and he reported that the GACDS Annual Meeting is scheduled for January 6-8, 2012 in Braselton, Georgia. District Conservationist Biggers gave the NRCS report. Biggers reported one (1) erosion and sediment control plan submitted for ratification – West Spring St./Avon St. Infrastructure Improvements – a motion was made by Jamieson and seconded by Hellenga to approve the plan. The motion passed. Biggers also reported that they are taking EQIP applications through September 30th and they still have not been informed of the funding level. Supervisor Jamieson gave a report on RC&D activities. She reported that there are efforts to restore RC&D funding in the Senate’s budget. Jamieson also reported there will be a full council meeting in October and on the program will be watershed dam maintenance. She also reported that Assistant State Conservationist for Programs Jimmy Bramblett has Stephens County SWCD Minutes September 19, 2011 Page Two accepted a position in Washington DC. The supervisors discussed ideas on how to get funding to perform maintenance on the watershed dams in the county. In other district business: Hellenga reported on the supervisor training session and felt it went well. After discussion a motion was made by Jamieson and seconded by Sheppard to pay $100 per diem to Hellenga for attending the session. The motion passed. The next district meeting will be Monday, October 17, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at the Kimsey Environmental Center in Eastanollee, Georgia.
