Tests/Projects are worth 40% in an honors class and 30% in an academic class. Daily work including homework, classwork, and quizzes accounts for 20% of the grade in an honors class and 40% in an academic class. In accordance with the ADHS grading initiative, the 10th grade English team will assign progressively increasing values to papers and tests throughout the semester. Late homework will not be accepted. Late papers will be marked down ten points per day after the due date. Extra Credit will be offered only after all other assignments are completed and turned in.

A Note about SPAN: grades are posted regularly on SPAN, but do not necessarily appear immediately after a quiz is taken or an assignment is turned in. Averages change frequently and may or may not be reflective of the likely final grade, although the more grades that are entered the more likely they are to reflect accurately an approximation of the student’s progress. I expect that parents and students are monitoring their child’s or their own grades. Please contact me at any time to request an updated progress report.

Required Daily Materials: pen or pencil, a notebook for notes and journal entries, loose-leaf paper for quizzes and written classwork assignments.

Classroom wish list: copier paper, tissues

Important Dates:

Fall Open House September 15

Interim Reports sent home September 21-25

1st quarter ends October 29th

Report cards sent home November 5th

Interim reports sent home December 7-11

Final exams January 15-22

ADHS AT ITS BEST Being Respectful Engaged and Ready Showing Self-Control Taking Responsibility
