<p>Internal Grant Application Template</p><p>Part 1: Research Plan Template Introduction  State the problem in general terms.  Detail the importance of the problemInternal and Grant how Application the results Template will advance scientific knowledge.  Describe where the study will be conducted.  (Do not exceed one page.)</p><p>Background and Hypothesis  Review the work of others and by yourself.  Lead up to and state the hypothesis or research question.  Detail what will be studies, why it is important, and how the project will contribute to existing knowledge.  Cite pertinent references.  (Do not exceed 2 pages)</p><p>Specific Aims  State the goals of the proposed research  Summarize the expected outcome(s), including the impact that the results of the proposed research will exert on the research field(s) involved.  List succinctly the specific objectives of the research proposed, e.g., to test a stated hypothesis, create a novel design, solve a specific problem, challenge an existing paradigm or clinical practice, address a critical barrier to progress in the field, or develop new technology.  (Do not exceed one page.)</p><p>Materials and Methods  Detail your study design and methodologies, ensuring they are adequately developed, well integrated and appropriate to the aims of the projects. o include how the data will be collected, analyzed, and interpreted o If the project is in the early stages of development, describe any strategy to establish feasibility, and address the management of any high risk aspects of the proposed work.  If the project involves humans- o detail the study population; o the recruitment methods to be employed; o whether the patients will be randomized and if so, how; o whether observational or control groups will be involved;  If the project involves animals- o Detail why this particular type of breed is being used o Animal number and justification is needed o The model which is being used and why it is the best design  Describe where the study will be carried out and the project period.  If you are using a FDA approved drug or device, please attach the package insert.  (Do not exceed 3 pages).</p><p>Human or Animal Protection Humans- Please respond to the following items: 1. Describe the proposed involvement of human subjects in the work outlined in the Research Strategy section. 2. Describe and justify the characteristics of the subject population, including their anticipated number, age range, and health status if relevant. 3. Describe and justify the sampling plan, as well as the recruitment and retention strategies and the criteria for inclusion or exclusion of any subpopulation.
