<p>February 2015</p><p>Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of 5th Grade Students, </p><p>New to Edgar last year, I am happy to introduce and announce your child’s upcoming Grade 5 Individual Planning Conference. Since you are key members of this team, you and your child are cordially invited and expected to participate in an Individual Planning Conference. These conferences are specifically designed for parents to gain insight into their child’s development and for students to gain insight into the direction they are headed in the future. Our task is to determine how we can help them develop meaningful goals for academic success.</p><p>Conferences are facilitated by me, your child’s School Counselor, and will be scheduled between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM during February, March, and April. The length of the conference is typically 30 minutes and includes both the parent(s)/guardian(s) and the student. The conference will include a review of your child’s hopes and dreams, talents, strengths, interests, their educational and career development, multiple intelligence and/or learning styles, and their transition to Middle School. Individual Planning Conferences are not intended for discussions concerning negative student-related issues. These can be discussed at another time. Your involvement in this conference is very important for the successful completion of your child’s Grade 5 educational experience. </p><p>I offer to you the opportunity to choose a time for your child’s Individual Planning Conference via a shared Google Document on my Edgar Fusion Page. You can access the document by visiting the Edgar webpage at www.edgar.k12.wi.us, then clicking on the following: “Elementary,” “Classroom Pages,” “Elementary Specialists,” “Middle School/Elementary Guidance – Mrs. Tatro,” and then scroll down and beneath “Guidance Information” there is a bolded heading titled “Grade 5 Individual Planning Conference Schedule” where you will find a link to the Google Document. Please read the first page carefully, then sign up for a time that is most convenient for you. I am hopeful that all parents will sign up for a time by February 13, 2015.
