<p> 6th Grade Glimpse December 12 – December 20</p><p>Science : This week we will start Chapter 3, and begin to look at how cells can specialize. Students will be able to develop an argument supported by evidence for how multicellular organisms are organized by varying levels of complexity; cells, tissue, organs, organ systems. Students know that cells come from other cells. Which will lead us into cellular reproduction. Students will be able to differentiate between asexual and sexual cellular reproduction. To wrap up the semester, students in all classes will take their Study Island Benchmark 2 test this week. We will continue working on identifying and using possessive nouns and also using details from text to support written answers. Reminder: All homework assignments that receive a grade below a C may be redone for grade improvement. Assignments should be asked for that day and are due the next class time. Encourage your student to take advantage of this opportunity if needed. My plan time is 9:28 to 10:52 on both Blue and 11:40 to 1:32 on Gold Days.</p><p>Keyboarding: This week we will take a unit test on Wednesday. We will also focus on skillbuilding exercises. This project will use space with line and color. Students will draw a portrait with one point perspective from a “birds eye view” or a “bugs eye view”. This project is due 12/16/16. Students will continue working on Chapter 13 over illegal drugs. Their folders will be checked as well. The students have written some great summaries throughout the quarter, please ask them to share with you. Students will get back their last quiz of the quarter and then be asked to turn in their Health binder's for a grade. Please help remind your child to bring clothes and tennis shoes for participation! Especially if they like to wear boots. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mr. Hawthorne or Mrs. Briney. The students are very excited to share the music we have been working on. They should arrive at the school by 6:15 to get ready, and the concert will start at 7:00pm. Students will be expected to stay for the full concert which should last around an hour. They should wear nice black shoes, black dress pants (or a skirt), and their blue music t-shirt. Please let me know if you need help obtaining any of these items! [email protected]</p><p>Vocal: Students are rehearsing music for the Winter Concert. This concert will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Gym. Student should arrive to the gym by 6:45. Students should wear their blue music shirt, black pants, and black shoes. [email protected]</p><p>Counselor’s Corner: Student Council is hosting a book drive benefiting Children’s Mercy Hospital December 12th-16th. Drop off points will be in the MS office and counselor’s office. Books need to be new or in new like condition. Student’s will receive one ticket per book donated and be entered to win a free lunch. Peer Helpers will be meeting December 15 th from 3:00-4:00pm in the counselor’s conference room please make arrangements to attend. Schedule changes will be on December 15th and 16th before/after school & during seminar.
