<p> HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</p><p>KENTUCKY GENERAL ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT FORM</p><p>2004 REGULAR SESSION</p><p>Amend printed copy of HB 389/HCS</p><p>On page 1, line 15, insert the following: "SECTION 2. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 196 IS CREATED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: (1) The Department of Corrections may grant a temporary furlough to permit offenders to visit the deathbed or attend the funeral of the offender's spouse or family member, so long as: (a) That furlough is limited to the confines of the Commonwealth; (b) The inmate is accompanied by a law enforcement authority; and (c) No furlough is granted to an inmate sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or imprisoned for a violation of KRS Chapter 507. (2) The Department of Corrections shall notify appropriate law enforcement authorities in the affected county or city to anticipate the arrival of the offender within their jurisdiction and inform them of the date and time of the offender's arrival, the reason for the furlough was granted, the time when the furlough expires, and any other pertinent information which the department deems appropriate. (3) The Department of Corrections shall promulgate administrative regulations for</p><p> administering the provision of this section and governing the conduct of offenders granted a furlough."</p><p>Amendment No. Rep.
