<p> [SURVIVAL SIMULATION] Quarter 3 - Interaction</p><p>You and your companions have just survived the crash of a small plane. Both the pilot and co-pilot were killed in the crash. It is mid-January, and you are in Northern Canada. The daily temperature is 25 below zero (-25°C), and the night time temperature is 40 below zero (-40°C). There is snow on the ground. The countryside is wooded with several creeks criss-crossing the area. The nearest town is 32 km away. You are all dressed in city clothes appropriate for a business meeting. Your group of survivors managed to salvage the following items: Individual Items Group Ranking Ranking  A ball of steel wool</p><p> A small axe</p><p> A loaded .45 caliber pistol  Can of Crisco shortening</p><p> Newspapers (one per person)</p><p> Cigarette lighter (without fluid) </p><p> Extra shirt and pants for each survivor </p><p> 20 x 20 ft. piece of heavy-duty canvas tarp  A sectional air map made of plastic </p><p> One quart of 100-proof whiskey  A compass</p><p> Family-size chocolate bars (one per person) </p><p>First, individually, rank the items in order of importance. Your task as a group is to list the above 12 items in order of importance for your survival. Think of the uses for each item. You MUST come to agreement as a group. Why or why not?  How were decisions made?  Who influenced the decisions and how?  How could better decisions have been made?  How was conflict managed?  How did people feel about the decisions?  What have you learnt about how your group functioned?  What was your role in the group?  How did you affect decision-making in your group?  How would you do the activity differently if you were asked to do it again?  What situations at work/home/school do you think are like this exercise?  Who is responsible for making a group work well together?  What does a group working well together look like? Sound like?  What are positive roles in a group?  What are negative roles in a group?  What makes a group work well together?  What makes a group not work well together?</p>
