<p>UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 4/5/2018 1998 REG. SESS. 98 RS BR 1440</p><p>A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of a true hero, Officer Mike Partin. "Unbounded courage and compassion join'd.../Alternately proclaim him good and great,/And make the hero and the man complete." - Addison WHEREAS, throughout the years that this nation has stood, our great Commonwealth has been protected by police officers who have risked their lives for the sake of others; and WHEREAS, Officer Mike Partin, a native of Batavia, Kentucky, was sworn in as a police officer with the Covington Police Department on September 9, 1996; and WHEREAS, on January 4, 1998, Officer Mike Partin sacrificed his life while attempting to assist a fellow police officer in the line of duty, and tragically, efforts to rescue his body from the cold and swollen Ohio River have proven unsuccessful; and WHEREAS, the heroism displayed in this unselfish act by Officer Mike Partin reveals to us the risks, dangers, and sacrifices involved in being a police officer, and the overwhelming grief and suffering afflicted upon his family and friends is beyond meaning; and WHEREAS, it is with heavy hearts and deep sadness when we reflect upon this tragic event, and Officer Mike Partin is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;</p><p>NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. This honorable body hereby expresses its profound sense of sorrow upon the untimely and tragic passing of Officer Mike Partin, and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.</p><p>Page 1 of 2 BR144000.100-1440 UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 4/5/2018 1998 REG. A life spent worthily is measured by deeds, not years, and through his compassion, enthusiasm, and genuine concern for his fellow man, Officer Mike Partin is worthy of the highest commendation. Section 3. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of a true hero, Officer Mike Partin. Section 4. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Lisa Partin, 5053 Sandman Drive, Taylor Mill, Kentucky 41015, and to Chief of Police Albert B. Bosse, Covington Police Department, 1929 Madison Avenue, Covington, Kentucky 41014.</p><p>Page 2 of 2 BR144000.100-1440</p>
