<p>Anatomy & Physiology Rockwall-Heath High School Mrs. Jenkins</p><p>Contact: [email protected]</p><p>Tutoring Times: Tuesday and Thursday 4pm.</p><p>Conference: 10:55-11:40/4th period</p><p>Course Description</p><p>Anatomy and Physiology extends understanding of the structure and function of the human body. Students will explore physiological systems and associated pathologies. Higher order thinking is stressed through assessment and synthesis of the anatomical knowledge combined with exposure to clinical analysis. Principles of physiology will be applied to human health and well-being.</p><p>Topics Covered</p><p>1. Foundations of Human Anatomy and Physiology 2. Cells and Tissues 3. Membranes and Integumentary System 4. The Skeletal System 5. The Muscular System 6. The Nervous System 7. The Sensory Systems 8. The Endocrine System 9. The Respiratory System 10. The Cardiovascular System and Blood 11. The Lymphatic and Immune Systems 12. The Digestive System and Nutrition 13. The Urinary System 14. The Male and Female Reproductive Systems</p><p>Grading</p><p>We will follow the RISD grading policy, which states a grade is comprised of 30% daily grades and 70% major assessments. Student progress and understanding will be measured using a variety of assessments that may include the following:</p><p>Class work and homework Diagrams / Labeling Study Guide Packets Worksheets Participation Projects and activities Lab exercises, dissections, and reports Chapter tests and quizzes</p><p>All assignments are due at the beginning of the class period.</p><p>1 Labs Students will follow directions and strict safety procedures at all times or they will be excused from lab work with no score. Attendance during all lab days is extremely important, as some lab work can be difficult to make up. An alternative assignment may be required if a lab is missed. </p><p>Lab Supplies</p><p>Paper towels, 3 pack Gloves (box) Disinfectant wipes (clean tables) Liquid hand soap</p><p>Discipline Policy</p><p>Discipline will be handled in class as follows: The student will be informed of his/her inappropriate behavior. If the problem in not corrected, a classroom detention will be assigned. If the problem persists, the student’s parent will be notified. Should the problem continue, the student would be sent to his/her principal. Students may be sent directly to his/her principal at the teacher’s discretion depending on the infarction.</p><p>Tardiness</p><p>Please arrive to class on time everyday.</p><p>1st tardy = warning 2nd tardy = detention/parent phone call 3rd tardy = office referral </p><p>2</p>
