Nancy Anderson Hollingsworth CSUF 1982

Other schools: Vanderbilt University - MSN Vanderbilt University - MBA

BACKGROUND: My mother was a nurse and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. She would tell me stories about her nursing experiences and how much she loved being a nurse. She impressed upon me how important it is to be well educated, to do your best, and to serve people in need.

EXPERIENCE: I enjoyed my clinical rotations very much, and remember feeling very awkward in my first semester of nursing school, and feeling very capable by the time I had my senior focus rotation. Karen Nishio, Eleanor Stitich, Dr. Rabago were faculty that I really respected and admired.

THOUGHTS: When I graduated, I felt like nursing provided a wonderfully diverse set of career options, considering different specialty areas, home care, inpatient / outpatient settings, clinical and administrative roles, etc. It has proved to be true! I have been working in nursing for 25 years and have had several interesting career paths, each representing a different way to make a positive impact on the healthcare experience of individuals and communities.
