<p> Wells Swimming Club Newsletter 26/10/16</p><p>Wells Swimming Club at the United Bristol Cup</p><p>At the weekend members of Wells Swimming Club took part in the first round of the United Bristol Swimming Clubs Trophy Cup held at Easton, Bristol. </p><p>The team started strongly coming third, second then first in the first three races. After that there was a mixed set of results in both the individual and relay events resulting in a fifth position finish on the night. </p><p>For the girls team, there were particularly strong performances from Jessica Smith, Ailsa Richardson, Edie Richardson, Emma Healey (who came first in in the 14 year Individual Medley, and second in both the 14y 50m back and open 100m back), Katie Chambers (second in the 14y 50m free), and Ciara Bowes (second in the open 100m back and 100m freestyle). There was good support in both the individual and relay events from Elizabeth Chambers, Bliss Sumbler, Meghan Verel and Eloise Yeadon Caiger (who came third in both the open 200m Individual Medley and 100m fly). The strong girls open medley team of Emma Healey (back), Katie Chambers (breast), Eloise Yeadon Caiger (fly) and Ciara Bowes (free) took second place and the same team lead all the way to finish first in the open 50m freestyle relay. Wells Swimming Club Newsletter 26/10/16</p><p>For the boys team, there were particularly strong performances from Matthew Lewis (first in the men’s open 100m breaststroke), Marcus Williams (second in both the men’s open 100m freestyle and fly), Alex Williams, Cameron Taylor, Declan Truan-Thatcher, Seth Allom, Theo Truan-Thatcher, Anthony Rackstraw and Freddie Rackstraw. The strong boys 10 year old team took third place in the 25m freestyle relay as well as securing an impressive first place in the 25m individual freestyle. The men’s open team of Matthew Lewis, Marcus Williams, Alex Williams and Anthony Rackstraw came second in both the 50m medal and freestyle races. </p><p>The last race of the evening was the freestyle canon relay race. Swimming in this always exciting end to an evening’s swimming was the Wells’ team of Ailsa Richardson, Declan Truan-Thatcher, Edie Richardson, Seth Allom, Emma Healey, Cameron Taylor, Ciara Bowes and Marcus Williams. The points they received ensured Wells took fifth place overall. Wells are hoping to improve their position when they take part in the next two rounds of the UBSC Trophy Cup. </p><p>Wells Swimming Club is a friendly but competitive club. Wells Swimming Club Newsletter 26/10/16</p><p>Club Camps They’re coming and they are a chance for you to test yourself and see the improvement you have made or need to make (or perhaps, how much chocolate, you should have left on the shelf!!). As always, the championships are open to all swimming members. Development squad can enter any 25m event. Cygnets need to seek advice of Louise before entering any further than 25m. If anyone else is unsure, please check with a coach. As always there are two dates. Shorter distances will be at Frome this year. Longer distances are being held at Edgarley (as last year). Frome will be Sat 26/11/16, warm up from 1700 hours Edgarley will be Sun 4/12/16, warm up from 1700 hours</p><p>If you haven’t received an entry form as yet, they are available on the club website under the news section. You MUST have paid you annual subs/ ASA membership fees. Be aware that not being a member has five effects: 1. You will not be insured 2. You will not be able to swim in training 3. You will not be able to enter club champs 4. You will not be able to compete 5. You will not receive emails and information from the club as of 1/11/16 All members must sign up, from volunteers and Development squad to Masters. We have much to discuss and Committee places to allocate. Please make every effort to attend. Venue: The George Inn, Croscombe Time: 1800 hours, 29/10/16 Try to arrive in good time, please park responsibly. The village hall has plenty of parking and is only a short walk away.</p>
