Latest updated: 05/14/2010</p><p>Port/Incident Area Summary</p><p>5-14-2010 am Oil spill response operations are ongoing. Current goal remains to keep commercial traffic flowing in all ports in the Gulf of Mexico. There are no plans to restrict traffic coming from main shipping lanes into or out of the ports of New Orleans, Pascagoula, Gulfport, Mobile, Pensacola, or Panama City. Mariners are urged to remain clear of the response area bounded by specific coordinates conveyed via broadcast notice to mariners, NAVTEX and Port Coordination Team announcements. Latest updated: 05/14/2010</p><p>MTS Impact</p><p>5-14-2010 am All port waterways are open with no restrictions. Vessel traffic is strongly encouraged to avoid the spill areas during voyages; vessels should make every effort to avoid coming in contact with oil, ensuring safe navigation. Vessels following these procedures will greatly reduce the possibility they will need their hull cleaned at a future date. </p><p>It is the intent of the Captain of the Port of New Orleans and the Captain of the Port of Mobile to facilitate marine traffic movement to the fullest extent possible throughout the oil spill response. To that end, the Coast Guard will examine all measures necessary to ensure commerce through the Mississippi River Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway continues with minimum restrictions. </p><p>All locks remain open with the exception that the Ostrica Lock is closed for repairs/maintenance. Latest updated: 05/14/2010</p><p>MTS Recovery Actions</p><p>5-14-2010 am During past 24 hours there have not been any cargo ships needing cleaning/decontamination in the New Orleans and Mobile AOR. Latest updated: 05/14/2010</p><p>Waterways Management Actions</p><p>The IHNC-GIWW Sector Gate Structure location at approximately Mile 15.5 East of Harvey Locks is closed during evening hours (1900-0700) to all marine traffic due to ongoing construction. The width of navigable water has been reduced in the area due to equipment. </p><p>The Mississippi River is at 8 feet and is on the rise (MSIB 94). </p><p>Sector New Orleans - There are no restrictions to vessel traffic on the Lower Mississippi River. Bar pilots report operations are normal and vessel traffic is entering/exiting the Lower Mississippi River. Bar pilots also report no vessels entering Southwest Pass have reported any sheening or presence of oil on any vessel. MSIB's related to incident posted on Homeport. </p><p>Rigolets Bridge is out of operation at this time due to mechanical issues (open to navigation). </p><p>COTP New Orleans continues to have safety zones from South Pass in the vicinity of the mouth where booming is deployed or being deployed; Southeast Pass in the vicinity of the mouth where booming is deployed or being deployed; and Pass a Loutre, in the vicinity of the north fork where booming is deployed or being deployed. A 500 meter safety zone is established offshore around the riser of the Deepwater Horizon. </p><p>COTP New Orleans established a safety zone in Southwest Pass, from Mile Marker 10 BHP to Mile Marker 17.5 BHP (Light "18" to Light "6") in the vicinity of vessel cleaning operations (MSIB 91 07MAY10). </p><p>COTP New Orleans established a safety zone near the entrance to the Rigolets in the vicinity of the CSX Railroad Bridge (MSIB 96 07MAY10). </p><p>COTP New Orleans established a safety zone in the following two areas: </p><p>(1). The Port of Venice, (Venice Jump and Tiger Pass), from its intersection with the Mississippi River proceeding to point 1/2 nm south of Venice Marina on Tiger Pass. This includes all slips in the Venice Port Complex. </p><p>(2). Baptiste Collette from Baptiste Collette Bayou Light #1 to its intersection with the Mississippi River. This is to protect vessels and personnel involved in booming operations in the area (MSIB 97 08 MAY10). </p><p>Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) remains open to vessels and is free of restrictions to marine traffic. </p><p>The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port New Orleans, under the authority of the Ports and Waterways Safety Act, will establish a safety zone on the Lower Mississippi River, from the Southwest Pass Safety Fairway to Mile Marker 96, extending the entire width of the river one nautical mile ahead of and one nautical mile astern of the Cruise Ship CARNIVAL TRIUMPH, during transit upriver from 8:12 p.m. on May </p><p>Produced by Interagency National Incident Command 4 Vetting Pends NATIONAL INCIDENT COMMAND 4/6/2018 DEEPWATER HORIZON/ MISSISSIPPI CANYON 252 14, 2010 through 5:12 a.m. on May 15, 2010 and during transit downriver from 4:00 p.m. on May 15, 2010 through 1:00 a.m. on May 16, 2010.
