<p>UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 04/05/18 14 REG. SESS. 14 RS BR 391</p><p>A RESOLUTION honoring Kentucky Department of Parks Commissioner Elaine N. Walker for assuring that parks employees will keep their full hours during the winter months. WHEREAS, Kentucky Department of Parks Commissioner Elaine N. Walker has loyally and artfully served this Commonwealth for much of the last decade. The former Mayor of Bowling Green, she was appointed by Governor Steve Beshear as Secretary of State in January 2011; and WHEREAS, in 2012, Elaine N. Walker was named Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Parks by the Secretary of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet. In her current position, Mrs. Walker has continued her distinguished career as a public servant, proving that she is the perfect woman for the job and a true leader for this Commonwealth's vital tourism industry; and WHEREAS, in November 2013, Elaine N. Walker assured Kentucky State Parks employees that they will receive their full hours during the winter. This was a landmark decision for the department and vital to the employees who so dutifully maintain the parks and their facilities. Throughout the pivotal winter months, parks employees will continue to work the jobs they, their families, and the over seven million visitors to Kentucky State Parks depend on; and WHEREAS, throughout her career in public service, Elaine N. Walker has shown a true dedication to improving the lives of all Kentuckians. In this spirit, assuring that state parks employees will work their full hours during the winter months not only benefits all those who use the state parks, the state resort parks, and the multitude of facilities and events offered at these institutions, but it is also a generous thank-you to the employees who so tirelessly labor for the parks system and the local economies that will be so duly rewarded by their efforts; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the</p><p>Page 1 of 2 BR039100.100 - 391 - 836 Jacketed UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 04/05/18 14 REG. SESS. 14 RS BR 391</p><p>Commonwealth of Kentucky:</p><p> Section 1. The House of Representatives commends Kentucky State Parks Commissioner Elaine N. Walker for assuring the Commonwealth's state parks employees that they will keep their hours throughout the winter months, and wishes her the utmost success in all her future endeavors. </p><p>Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Elaine N. Walker.</p><p>Section 3.
