Microsoft Home Use Program

Microsoft Home Use Program

Employees of State of Florida agencies and other eligible users (OEUs) who purchase software from the Microsoft software contract 252-001-09-1 are eligible to participate in the Home Use Program, if they meet the following conditions:

1. Employee’s agency currently holds an Enterprise Agreement (EA) with Microsoft.

2. Employee’s agency has made a policy decision to allow agency employees to participate in the Home Use Program (not all employees may qualify).

3. Employee agrees to pay Microsoft the cost of media (cd), shipping, and taxes, if applicable.

4. Employee agrees to immediately remove software upon their departure from the qualified agency or when the agency no longer holds an EA agreement with Microsoft.

About the Home Use Program

The Home Use Program applies under the following conditions:

1. For application products only. 2. Specifically offered for Microsoft Office Professional products only. 3. Purchase price is discounted for employees. 4. Any agency employee covered by the EA may purchase a copy (1 only) of the above software for their home PC. 5. The administrator of the agency EA will provide a link and a special program ID for employees to use to log in and purchase the software. 6. License compliance is solely on the employee – no tieback to the agency if the employee leaves the agency and does not remove the software. 7. The software purchased is a full version copy and would be the same version you would purchase off the shelf at any store that sells software except that there is NO maintenance associated with the version. 8. If an agency later chooses not to renew an EA for that software, the employee’s version that they purchased would no longer be eligible for use and must be removed from the employee’s computer. 9. If an agency later upgrades to a newer version of the same program though an eligible EA, the employee would again be able to purchase the software. 10. Microsoft provides a link where employees can type in their work email address to determine eligibility: http://www.microsofthup.com/hupus/chooser.aspx?culture=en-US (DMS recommends that agencies contact their agency’s IT office for participation and purchasing direction. Agency information technology (IT) staff can send the employee instructions for purchasing the software as well as any agency specific requirements that the employee must follow. 11. Each agency may have additional requirements regarding which employees are eligible to use this program (i.e. only those employees who occasionally work from home on behalf of the agency).

About Office 365

If an agency is using Office 365, the Home Use Program does not apply to any agency or OEU employee. With Office 365 each license includes installation for up to five (5) devices (i.e. Office PC, Laptop, tablet, smartphone, and home computer). Agency policies will determine how deployment of the license will be Microsoft Home Use Program handled for employees. Employees should speak with their agency’s IT office regarding any questions or requirements.
