<p> 8th Grade Math Course Expectations</p><p>Ms. Rodriguez Email: [email protected]</p><p>Welcome to 8th Grade Math! This is the beginning of advanced mathematics and it lays the foundation for virtually all of higher mathematics. I am here to assist you through this course and help you learn, so please alert me when you have a question and/or need help. Please share this letter with your parents/guardians and have them sign the attached form. </p><p>Class Rules Respect the teacher, yourself, and your classmates. Be seated to begin class when the bell rings. Listen and follow directions the first time.</p><p>Homework Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. Students need to write their homework assignment on their planner. When you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what was assigned and hand it in within three days. I will not accept late work. Make-up tests will be given the day you return except in the cases of extended absences. </p><p>Warm-ups Warm-ups (review math problems) will be given at the beginning of each class. They will be worth weekly between 10-25 pts. Tests/Quizzes Attendance is crucial because homework is assigned daily, students will review for test/quiz on Thursdays, and take a test or quiz on Fridays.</p><p>Grading All work will be graded on a point basis. Each assignment, quiz, or test will be assigned a total number of points possible. The number of points you earn will be noted when the exercise is graded. The final course grade will be determined by a percentage, based on the following categories:</p><p> Homework, classwork, projects 10%  Tests/quizzes (verbal and/or written) 90%</p><p>Classroom Procedures  Warm-ups and review answers.  Homework from the previous day is reviewed.  Notes or instructions on new material are given to the class.  Class work is completed.  Homework assignment is given and explained.  Tests and quizzes are given at the mid and end of each chapter.  There are three quarterly district benchmark assessments.</p><p>My grades will be posted online and updated weekly.
