<p> Lesson Plans- Ms. Utech Monday 4-5-10</p><p>8:10- 8:30 Attendance, planners, check-in, & take lunch (Tulip-Tree Leaves pg.24) 8:30-9:30 Reading- Groups Objective: Students will develop comprehension and vocabulary or a new story. Procedure: Today we will start off by reading a new chapter book, “Catwings.” As a group we will be reading chapter 1 together and the students will be asked to read chapter 2 on their own. I will continue to ask them questions to see how well they are paying attention. Library Instruction 9:00-9:30 9:30-10:00 Social Studies- Finish “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing 10:00-10:15 Read AR 10:15-10:30 Recess 10:30-10:45 Snack 10:45-11:45 Math – Fractions Standard: Standard 1 Objective: Students will be introduced to fractions. Procedure: We will be reviewing today from what they have learned in 1st and 2nd grade. As a whole group we will work some problems on the board dealing with equal parts of a whole. The students should know how to show this and what it looks like. Materials: WS R/P 112 Assessment: WS 11:45-11:50 Get ready for lunch—wash hands 11:50-12:05 Recess 12:10-12:35 Lunch 12:35-12:50 Story- Library Check-out 12:50-1:30 Science- Weather “Hurricanes” Standard: Standard 4 Objective: The students will develop knowledge on hurricanes. Procedure: Today we will be reading a story called “Hurricanes.” We will start with just chapters 1-2. The students will be reading aloud and I will ask them questions as we read. When finished they will need to answer questions for chapters 1-2 on their own. Materials: Book “Hurricanes” & WS Assessment: WS 1:30-2:20 Music/P.E. 2:20-2:45 Spelling- Unit 24 Standard: Standard 3 Objective: Students will be introduced to Unit 24 (Rebecca Sitton 3rd grade) Procedure: Pre-test and word preview Materials: Word Preview Assessment: WS 2:45-3:05 Cursive- H poem Objective: Students will use prior technique to write full sentences in cursive. Procedure: The students will be practicing writing their cursive letters. Materials: WS Assessment: WS 3:05-3:25 Read AR</p><p>Lesson Plans- Ms. Utech Tuesday 4-6-10</p><p>8:10- 8:30 Attendance, planners, check-in, & take lunch (Cows pg.14) 8:30-9:30 Reading- Groups Objective: Students will continue to gain knowledge on comprehension and vocabulary. Procedure: Today we will review what happened in chapters 1 and 2. When we are finished discussing the students will be asked to answer some questions. They are then going to color 4 kittens and give them a name. The kittens then need to have a story written about them. The students need to write in complete sentences with beginning and ending capitalization and punctuation. Materials: WS Assessment: WS 9:30-10:00 Social Studies- Finish Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing 10:00-10:15 Read AR 10:15-10:30 Recess 10:30-10:45 Snack 10:45-11:45 Math- Naming Fractional Parts Standard: Standard 1 Objective: Students will review fractional parts. Procedure: We will begin by reviewing together on the board and going over plenty of examples. Then we will do the review side of our worksheet together which relates to the practice side. The students will be asked to complete the practice side on their own. Materials: WS R/P 113 Assessment: WS 11:45-11:50 Get ready for lunch—wash hands 11:50-12:05 Recess 12:10-12:35 Lunch 12:35-12:50 Story 12:50-1:30 Science- Weather “Hurricanes” Standard: Standard 4 Objective: Students will continue to develop knowledge on hurricanes. Procedure: We will be reading chapter 3 in our book “Hurricanes” today. The students will be reading aloud. When they are finished they need to answer the questions for that chapter. Materials: WS Assessment: WS 1:30-2:20 P.E/Music 2:20-2:45 Spelling- Unit 24 Standard: Standard 3 Objective: Students will practice adding suffixes on to words and spelling corrections. Procedure: The students will be working in partners today to complete their worksheets. They are to come up with a list of words from the 2 lists given and making spelling corrects on sentences. Materials: WS Assessment: WS 2:45-3:05 Cursive- Computer Lab 3:05-3:25 Read AR</p><p>Lesson Plans- Ms. Utech Wednesday 4-7-10</p><p>8:10- 8:30 Attendance, planners, check-in, & take lunch 8:30-9:30 Reading- Groups Objective: Students will continue to develop comprehension and vocabulary. Procedure: Today we will be read chapters 3-4 in “Catwings”. We will read this together as a class and discuss different parts as we read. When finished the students will need to answer questions over the chapter Materials: Book “Catwings” & WS Assessment: WS 9:30-10:00 Social Studies- Communities Standard: Standard 1 Objective: Students will distinguish between wanting something and needing it. Procedure: The students will be answering questions such as: I need this or I want it. We will go over a list of things. Next we will be making a foldable over “Meeting Needs.” The students will pick 4 things we really need! They will then decide and pick 3 of them to draw a picture. They will write the topic on the front and draw a picture under the flap. Materials: foldable Assessment: foldable 10:00-10:15 Read AR 10:15-10:30 Recess 10:30-10:45 Snack 10:45-11:45 Math- Equivalent Fractions (9-3) Standard: Standard 1 Objective: Students will be introduced to equivalent factions. Procedure: We will be going over equivalent fractions. First we will start off by taking a piece of paper and dividing it up so that they can see that fractions can equal each other. Then after discussing fraction names with the same amount we will get the boards out to show students other ways to see how they equal each other. When finished as a group we will work on the review side of pg.114, then students will complete the practice side. Materials: Fraction boards & R/P 114 Assessment: WS 11:45-11:50 Get ready for lunch—wash hands 11:50-12:05 Recess 12:10-12:35 Lunch 12:35-12:50 Story 12:50-1:30 Science-Weather “Hurricanes” Standard: Standard 4 Objective: Students will develop new facts on hurricanes. Procedure: Today we will read chapter 4 in our “Hurricanes” book. As we read, I will ask questions. When finished the students will need to answer questions on the worksheet. Materials: Book “Hurricanes” & WS Assessment: WS 1:30-2:20 Music/P.E. 2:20-2:45 Spelling- Unit 24 Standard: Standard 3 Objective: Students will be forming sentences using their spelling words. Procedure: Today the students will be using 5 spelling words and putting them into sentences. Materials: Spelling words & Journals Assessment: Journals 2:45-3:05 Cursive- I Poem Objective: Students will use prior technique to write full sentences in cursive. Procedure: The students will be practicing their cursive letters in full sentences and paragraphs. Procedure: Today the students will be writing a letter home about the Tabbies. They will need to use complete sentences with punctuation and capitalization. When finished they will also be taking a test over “Catwings.” Materials: WS & Test Assessment: WS & Test 9:30-10:00 Social Studies-Unit 4 Lesson 1 pg.148-151 Standard: Standard 1 Objective: Students will understand that people do different jobs to earn money. Students will discuss how farmers sell their crops to buyers for money. Procedure: We will begin by looking over the vocabulary words and other words the students may not know. Then we will start reading pages 148-151. I will ask questions throughout the text. Materials: Book pg.148-151 Assessment: Observational 10:00-10:15 Read AR 10:15-10:30 Recess 10:30-10:45 Snack 10:45-11:45 Math- Estimating Fractional Amounts (9-5) Standard: Standard 1 Objective: Students will be introduced to estimating fractions. Procedure: Today I will be introducing estimating fractions. We will review equivalent fractions at first then move on. I will do some examples on the board and then we will do the review side on our worksheet. Once the students have grasped the concept they will do the practice side on their own. Materials: R/P 116 Assessment: WS 11:45-11:50 Get ready for lunch—wash hands 11:50-12:05 Recess 12:10-12:35 Lunch 12:35-12:50 Story 12:50-1:30 Science- Weather “Hurricanes” Standard: Standard 4 Objective: The students will continue to learn facts about hurricanes. Procedure: We will be reading chapter 5 in our Hurricanes book today. The students will take turns reading and then answer questions at the end. As we read, I will ask the students questions to see how well they are paying attention. Materials: Book “Hurricanes” & WS Assessment: WS 1:30-2:20 P.E./Music 2:20-2:45 Spelling- Unit 24 Standard: Standard 3 Objective: Students will review spelling words. Procedure: Today we will be playing a spelling game to review our words. Materials: Game Assessment: Observational 2:45-3:05 Cursive- J Poem Objective: Students will use prior technique to write full sentences in cursive. Procedure: The students will be practicing their cursive letters in sentences and paragraphs. Procedure: Today the students will be writing what they think happens next. . . ? This is also going to help us practice our writing skills. From 9:00-9:30 we will work on studyisland.com Materials: Paper & Computers Assessment: Paper 9:30-10:00 Social Studies- Lesson 1 pg. 152-155 Standard: Standard 1 Objective: Students will explain how businesses buy goods to sell to consumers. Students will see that people use money to pay for needs and wants. Procedure: We will first review what we read the previous day. Then begin reading pages 152-155. As we are reading I will ask the students questions to see if they are grasping the main concept. When we are finished I will have the students complete the worksheet on their own. We will also practice buying and selling things with money. Materials: WS 67-68 & Money Assessment: WS 10:00-10:15 Read AR 10:15-10:30 Recess 10:30-11:00 Snack 11:00-11:45 Math- Fractions on a Number Line Standard: Standard 1 Objective: Students will be introduced to placing fractions on a number line. Procedure: We will do a quick review from the week. Then begin with putting fractions on a number line. I will do many examples with the students on the board then we will complete the review side of the worksheet. When we finish the students will complete the practice side on their own. Materials: WS R/P 117 Assessment: WS 11:45-11:50 Get ready for lunch—Wash hands 11:50-12:05 Recess 12:10-12:35 Lunch 12:35-12:50 Read AR 12:50-1:30 Science- Weather Words Standard: Standard 4 Objective: The students will use prior knowledge with weather facts. Procedure: Today we will be reading a story about “weather words.” This will wrap up weather and what the students are learned. Materials: Book “Weather Words” Assessment: Observational 1:30-2:20 Music/P.E. 2:20-2:45 Spelling- Unit 24 Standard: Standard 3 Objective: Student will show knowledge of Unit 24 words. Procedure: Unit 24 Cloze Test, dictation sentences, and skills test. Materials: Test Assessment: Test 2:45-3:05 Cursive- K poem Objective: Students will use prior technique to write full sentences in cursive.
