Conditions were excellent and we were keen to get off to a good start, but alas the REDS jumped us and kicked the first 3 goals. The first half was a scrappy affair and we were beaten comprehensively in the air and around the ground in the stoppages. We had some injury concerns and managed to get some u12s to help us out and this helped our structure after halftime. We managed to get in and win the footy first and tried moving it quickly with handball receives, give and go’s and switching out of defence. It didn’t always work, but I was happy that we took the game on and charged home with 4 goals to just lose by 5 points. Another 2-3 minutes would have helped us immensely as we ran the game right out again. Caden Cleary was back to his hard running best off a hbf and was ably supported by a very consistent Adam Kiely. Kodi Nangle showed his improvement in consistency and is in a rich vein of form. Kyle Howden got us moving in the middle before he got injured. Blake Jackson was good up forward but great in the ruck in the second half. Spyke Mepstead was good tough target for us up forward and tough on the ball while Flynn Kelly had an auspicious day – some tough tackles, hit the post once, had a goal disallowed and then got yellow carded! Backed up by playing well in the U14s with Josh and Blake. Well done boys! Special mention to the U12 lads who helped us out today. Robbo, Jacko, Crash and Arch – you all showed that you are up to this standard of footy and good blokes to boot. We hope you enjoyed it and good luck with the rest of your season. Thanks heaps! Super Special mention to Ethan Longstaff. Played a wonderful match to celebrate his 50th game. Stood tall in defence and competed well in the first half. Then became a target and got in first in attack in the second half. The practice of set shots at training paid off when he dobbed a beautiful 30m drop punt straight through the middle in the last qtr.

We have had a couple of tough games, so enjoy the week off for holidays and see you all in 2 weeks’ time.

Cheers

Page 2 of 4 LANGWARRIN JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB 2015 Match Day Report PO Box 4121, Langwarrin, Vic., 3910 www.langyjfc.com

DK

Goal Kickers

Page 3 of 4 LANGWARRIN JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB 2015 Match Day Report PO Box 4121, Langwarrin, Vic., 3910 www.langyjfc.com

Kodi – great shot Loch- on the run Spyke – good mark playing in front!
