<p>MPS Master SECTION 07 72 33</p><p>ROOF HATCH</p><p>PART - GENERAL</p><p>SUMMARY</p><p>Section Includes:</p><p>Provide roof hatch where noted.</p><p>Provide safety railing attached to roof hatch.</p><p>Related Work:</p><p>Electrical Contractor: Install security system contact switches on-site at interior of roof hatches.</p><p>SUBMITTALS</p><p>General Requirements: Provide submittals in accordance with Section 01 33 00.</p><p>Shop Drawings: Indicate dimensions, description of materials and finishes, general construction, component connections, anchorage methods, hardware, and installation procedures.</p><p>PART - PRODUCTS</p><p>MATERIALS</p><p>Acceptable Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements of the Contract Documents, acceptable manufacturers are as follows or Owner approved equal:</p><p>Babcock-Davis, a Cierra Products Inc. Company, Model B-RHG Bilco Company, Model L-20 Dur-Red Products, Model NSH (Normal Stair Hatch) Milcor, Inc., Model M-3 Nystrom Building Products, Model RHG J. L. Industries, Inc., a Division of Activar Construction Products Group, Model RHG-3 Karp Associates, Inc., Model KRHG</p><p>Size: 2'-6" wide by 8 feet long.</p><p>Fabrication:</p><p>Curb and cover of fully welded construction.</p><p>Curb/Frame: 14 gauge galvanized steel sheet, 12-inch high curb with integral combination cap/counterflashing, mounting flange continuous around base of frame. Insulate exterior face of frame with 1-inch thick rigid insulation.</p><p>Cover: Composite construction, consisting of 1-inch thick rigid insulation covered with a 14 gauge galvanized steel sheet exterior pan and a not less than 22 gauge galvanized</p><p>07 72 33 - 1 Roof Hatch MPS Master SECTION 07 72 33</p><p> steel sheet interior cover liner.</p><p>Finish: Factory applied primer over galvanized steel sheet.</p><p>Hardware:</p><p>Hinges: Heavy pintle type.</p><p>Cover Lifting Mechanism: Compression springs contained within telescopic tubes located within hatchway or torsion coil type spring located within hatch frame/curb.</p><p>Hold Open Device: Automatic hold-open arm with vinyl grip handle.</p><p>Latch: Spring type with inside and outside operating handles.</p><p>Locking Provisions: Padlock hasp on interior. Owner will provide padlock.</p><p>Weatherstripping: Neoprene or rubber gasket type weatherstripping continuous around perimeter of cover.</p><p>ACCESSORIES</p><p>Roof Hatch Safety Railing System: Manufacturer's standard complete system including rails, clamps, fasteners, safety barrier at railing opening, and all accessories required for a complete installation.</p><p>Acceptable Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements of the Contract Documents, acceptable manufacturers are as follows or Owner approved equal:</p><p>Babcock-Davis, a Cierra Products Inc. Industries, Inc., a Division of Activar Construction Products Group, HatchGuard Milcor Inc., a Gibraltar Company, Safety Railing Nystrom, Inc., RHSR-FB KeeHatchJ Railing System, The Safety Rail Source, RHSR-FB</p><p>Test Load: 200 Foot Pounds</p><p>Height: 42 inches above finished roof deck.</p><p>Pipe or Tube: 1 1/4-inch, inside diameter, galvanized pipe or 1 5/8-inch, outside diameter, galvanized tube.</p><p>Flat Bar: 2-inch high by 3/8-inch thick galvanized steel.</p><p>Chain Passway Enclosure: Galvanized proof coil chain with quick link on fixed end.</p><p>Pipe Ends and Tops: Covered or plugged with weather-resistant material.</p><p>Provide weep holes or another means to drain entrapped water in hollow sections of handrail and railing members that are exposed to exterior or to moisture from</p><p>07 72 33 - 2 Roof Hatch MPS Master SECTION 07 72 33</p><p> condensation or other sources.</p><p>Fabricate joints that will be exposed to weather in a watertight manner.</p><p>Close exposed ends of handrail and railing members with prefabricated end fittings.</p><p>Fasteners: Manufacturer's standard.</p><p>PART - EXECUTION</p><p>EXAMINATION</p><p>Verification of Conditions: Examine site conditions under which work of this Section will be performed.</p><p>Identify conditions detrimental to providing proper quality and timely completion of work.</p><p>Do not proceed with installation until detrimental conditions have been corrected.</p><p>INSTALLATION</p><p>General Requirements:</p><p>Install as shown on Drawings and in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.</p><p>Position hatch over roof opening and bolt or weld to roof construction for a secure installation.</p><p>Install roof hatch to be level at top of curb. When roof structure slopes, install curb on tapered wood shims.</p><p>Attach safety railing system to roof hatch curb in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.</p><p>END OF SECTION</p><p>07 72 33 - 3 Roof Hatch</p>
