Fall Carnival is here. </p><p> Class Basket- The theme of our basket is “Family Night.” So far, we have received a cash donation, a “Chutes and Ladders” board game, popcorn, and boxes of candy. Please send in labeled cash donations or items to be donated and I will get it to Abby Massey. Please contact her with any questions. If every family can even donate $3, it goes a long way. All money comes back to the classroom. I’d like to purchase some comfortable spots to read for independent reading time. You should have received an email from me/Ms. Massey concerning the basket. </p><p> Booth- All first grade teachers work together to produce the “Red Bird Karaoke.” It made its debut last year and was very popular. We have NHS members coming to run the event, so you will be able to enjoy the evening with your child. Please see the PTO note for more information. Conferences are being held during the school day on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8. There is no school on this day. At the beginning of the week, you should have received an email from SignUp Genius to select your conference time. If you do not have email, please send me some times that work for you and I will confirm a time with you. Halloween- Students may wear costumes on Monday. However, no masks or face paint are allowed. No props or weapons. Students must wear regular shoes and be able to use the bathroom independently without loss of instructional time. We will be working on that day, but “Halloween Style.” I will provide a treat for the class, however, there is no party. Website- By Monday, I hope to have the class website up and running. It will give you access to the newsletter when you need it and photos from classroom activities. It also has an announcement feature that I can use to keep you updated as plans change. It is especially good for extended snow days. You can access the website from the school’s web page. Click on “staff “ and it will lead you there. More Important News</p><p>Paint a Picture</p><p>If you add pictures to other parts of your newsletter and want to match the cool, two-part border on the photo you see at the top of each page, just paint it!</p><p>Format Painter, on the Home tab of the ribbon, works for graphics just like it does for text. All you do is select a photo that contains the formatting you want, click Format Painter, then click the photo where you want to apply that format. Wasn’t that fun?</p><p>Tables Aren’t Just For Numbers</p><p>The shaded and bordered areas of this template are created using tables. In fact, when you add a table in this template, you’ll get that formatting automatically.</p><p>On the Insert tab, click Table and you’re on your way!</p><p>To make it even easier, after you click Table, choose Quick Tables and you’ll see a sample table that’s been formatted to match this template exactly.</p><p>A Quick Sidebar…</p><p>If you add another page, you can also add a new sidebar. Just click in the first paragraph on the new page. Then, on the Insert tab of the ribbon, click Text Box to choose either of the sidebar layouts you see in this template.</p>
