<p> REVISED</p><p>FACULTY </p><p>VACANCY Assistant Professor (tenure-track) Program for Education of Native Teachers (PENT) and Community-based Education (CBE)</p><p>Brandon University is a leader in providing high quality education to a diverse population of over 3,000 full-time and part-time students in nationally recognized undergraduate and graduate professional and pre-professional programs, in arts, sciences, education, music, and health studies. </p><p>The Faculty of Education at Brandon University is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, learner-centered educator for the PENT and CBE programs. PENT is a community-based, indigenous, pre-service teacher education program located. Students combine paraprofessional work in their community schools from September to April with courses at Brandon University from April to July. Community-based education (CBE) delivers an integrated B.A.∕B.Ed. program on site in rural communities. Education courses are taught in rotation and include ELA, math, science and social studies methods; professional teacher; Aboriginal perspectives; classroom management; child and adolescent development; technology in education. Applicants should specify their areas of expertise.</p><p>Qualifications: Doctoral degree (or ABD) in Education is preferred, a master’s degree education is required; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; knowledge of theory and practice pertaining to indigenous teacher education; successful teaching experience in K-12 and or post-secondary contexts; demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively; professional experience working with indigenous children, youth, families, and communities in K-12 school or agency-based settings. </p><p>Duties: Developing and conducting courses within the PENT/CBE programs; teaching in the integrated B.A. /B.Ed. programs; advising, supervising and evaluating student teacher candidates; administration of student field experiences; networking with school divisions, school administrators and cooperating teachers in support of the programs.
