Parashah 52

Vayelekh (He went) October 8, 2016 Friends of the Bridegroom Ministries TORAH QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION Deuteronomy 31:1-30 1 31:3: “Cross over before you.” The scripture tells us that YHVH would go before Israel as a Divine Leader and Y’hoshua will cross over before Israel as their leader. In Hebrew this is called “Dual Casualty Principle”, meaning that the actions of the sender (divine) and the messenger (human) is equal (Judges 2:16-18, Isaiah 45:21, 2 Chr. 24:20) i.e. YHVH saved Israel by Gideon’s hand (Judges 6:16, 36). This is a partnership to carry out YHVH’s plan.

 Are you willing to partner with YHVH to carry out His plans for this generation, even if it requires your life (2Chr. 24:21)? 2 31:6: “Be strong, be bold, don’t be afraid or frightened of them, for Adonai your G-d is going with you.” Moshe is encouraging Y’hoshua to be full of strength during their military exploits, but in Joshua 1:6-9 exp v.7 YHVH tells Y’hoshua to be “strong and very bold” in keeping Torah. In 1 Chr. 28:20 King David tells Shlomo the same, to be strong, be bold and do the work of building the Temple. We need this same courage whether in physical or spiritual warfare, in keeping YHVH’s Word and in our Ambassadorship; yes every area of our lives; to never give up, to persevere in all that we do. The Adversary is trying to frustrate us until we admit defeat to the pressures of life but, YHVH has promised to be with us (Ps 91:14, Heb 13:5b) and we will successes in the end as Joint Heirs and messengers of YHVH (John 8:29, Ro 8:17, Eph 3:6).

 Are you confident that YHVH is going with you?

31:10-13: “…At the end of seven years…so they can hear, learn, fear Adonai your G-d and take care to obey all the words of this Torah…”. In ancient times every household did not possessed a copy of the scrolls to read continuously YHVH’s word, so at the end of seven years during the feast of Sukkot they were instructed to read aloud the breath filled word of YHVH, which obtained wisdom for their lives (Proverbs 8). The disciple and others had the privilege to walk with YHVH’s living Word (John 1:14).

 Are honored to have the written word of YHVH effortlessly accessible so you?

3 31:9, 24-26: YHVH tells us that Moshe wrote the Words of Torah and gave orders to the L’vi’im to place the Book next to the ark with the covenant of Adonai. Why is It necessary for us to know that Moshe wrote the Words of Torah? Let us review an earlier scripture, Exodus 19:9 says “Adonai said to Moshe, See, I am coming to you in a thick cloud, so that the people will be able to hear when I speak with you and also to trust in you forever.” YHVH needed the next generation to believe the rest of the revelation (Joshua 8:34) to be reliable and true; now since Moshe is a foreshadowing of Yeshua, YHVH became the Divine Witness at the baptism of Yeshua (Mt 3:16, 17).

 Do you believe the living and active word of YHVH is true or have you abandon His truth based upon some distorted philosophy?

PSALMS READING 65

HAFTORAH/GOSPEL READING NOTES HEBREWS 13:5-8

PROPHET READING NOTES ISAIAH 55:6-56:8 & MICAH 7:18-20
