<p>Sunday, February 19 1 p.m., Immediately follows Winter Obstacle Course Behind the Vandament Arena ENTRIES DUE: Friday, February 10, by 5 p.m. MANDATORY MEETING: Thursday, February 16, at 7:00 p.m., Back Room (1213 UC)</p><p>Human Sled-Dog Races</p><p>Making their return to the WinterFest line-up for the eighth year, the Human Sled-Dog Races are a great way to get your organization together and enjoy a variation of a time-honored U.P. tradition. The Human Sled-Dog Races put a fun and unique twist on traditional races. Teams of five people compete to see who can construct and pull a sled-dog unit around a designated course in the fastest time. Teams can also compete for the “Most Creative Sled” award; the winning team will earn an additional five points toward their organization’s overall WinterFest score and their sled will be put on display in the Marketplace. 1. Each team must have five participants (one rider and four pullers). Participants must be NMU students, faculty or staff.</p><p>2. A completed entry form must be submitted to the Center for Student Enrichment by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 10. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED!</p><p>3. There is only one category of competition. Teams must be co-ed. </p><p>4. Teams will construct their sleds for racing prior to the event. The sleds can be constructed out of any type of material but needs to be created by the members of the team (cannot be store bought.)</p><p>5. Sleds must follow the dimensions provided. Legal sled dimensions are as follows:  Maximum Length: 66 inches  Maximum Width: 36 inches</p><p>6. Harnesses can be made from any type of material, using any method for rigging, as long as the total length of the unit (sled plus pullers) is less than twelve feet.</p><p>7. Teams will start with the entire unit (pullers, rider and sled) behind the starting line and will finish when the entire unit has crossed the finish line.</p><p>8. Pullers must remain connected to their sled at all times throughout the race. If the rider falls off of the sled, the race cannot continue until the unit is together again. </p><p>Page 1 of 2 9. Rider and pullers cannot change places at any point throughout the race.</p><p>10. No contact or interference with other teams during the race will be tolerated.</p><p>11. Any infraction of the above rules may result in team disqualification, as determined by the Special Events Coordinator. </p><p>12. Don’t take your sled apart if you win most creative; it will be displayed in the Marketplace!</p><p>13. Teams must also attend a Mandatory Meeting on Thursday, February 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the Back Room (1213 UC). </p><p>“ Most Creative Sled Award” Judging Criteria</p><p>All teams are automatically entered. The judges will decide based off of the following:  Creativity (Does the sled convey an original idea?)  Use of different materials  Use of decorations related to the WinterFest theme  Note: the functionality of the sled is not a factor. </p><p>These rules will be applied at the judges’ discretion. All judges’ decisions are final. The winning team will receive an additional 5 points toward its overall WinterFest score. </p><p>Page 2 of 2</p>
