<p> Policy Title: Fluroscopic Guidance for PICC Placement</p><p>Category: Patient Care Number Date Originated: Effective Date: September 2013 Last Review Date: </p><p>PURPOSE: Assist the referring physician or the anesthesiologist in placement of a PICC line using fluoroscopic guidance.</p><p>SUPPLIES: IV therapy will provide all necessary supplies.</p><p>PROCEDURE: Set up mobile fluoroscopic unit and assist physician as necessary in imaging of central line placement. Save at least one image of the procedure and document fluoro time and which physician placed the line when completing the on line form.</p><p>POLICY: This service will be provided ONLY to physicians and anesthesiologists who are attempting to place central lines outside the Radiology department. Fluoroscopic guidance WILL NOT be provided to assist an IV Therapist in placement of a central line.</p><p>ALL requests for PICC line to be placed by Radiology will be handled through the HFH special procedures department.
